Welcome to Rondane Gjestegard Rondane Gjestegard is located in sunny Sollia, approximately 250 kilometers north of Oslo. Situated some 780 meters above sea level, two of the closest neighbors of Rondane Gjestegard are Lillehammer, the home of the 1994 Olympic Games, and the beautiful Rondane National Park. A charming hotel and rustic, comfortable log cabins await guests, who can look forward to delicious home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes. We invite you to experience the stunning expanses and breathtaking beauty of Norway while enjoying the region’s peaceful serenity in total comfort. Cabins We invite you to stay in one of our ten traditional log cabins, which are available with either two or five beds. The cabins were built in 1994 and feature a very high standard. All of them come with a shower and floor heating in the bathroom as well as separate bedrooms. A cozy wood stove awaits you in the comfortable living rooms. You will find all the firewood you need stacked just outside your door. All of the cabins feature wireless Internet access and fully equipped kitchenettes where you can prepare your own meals. If you prefer, you can enjoy delicious meals in the hotel restaurant. Guests are also invited to use the hotel lounge where they than can relax over a cup of coffee and piece of a fresh home-baked cake while relaxing by the fire or browsing through the books in our small library. There is also a grill area near the river for guests who would like to cook or grill their meals outdoors. If you are looking for a unique experience, we invite you to stay in our Stabbur. Traditionally, a stabbur is building found on Norwegian farms where food is stored. Our Stabbur is no longer used as a pantry. Instead, we transformed the two-storey structure into a comfortable cabin, which is the pride and joy of our estate. The Stabbur has been fully modernized and furnished with meticulous care while still retaining its quaint storehouse character. Hotel Our charming hotel offers personalized service and home-cooked meals. Guests enjoy full hotel service yet still feel completely at home in the small but comfortable rooms with shower/WC and Internet access. A hearty Norwegian breakfast is included in the price. Lunch and dinner are also served, and we’ll be glad to prepare a tasty take-away lunch for you for your outings. If you prefer, you can simply relax by the crackling fire in the comfort of our cozy lounge. You can browse through our small library or simply let your mind wander and enjoy the soothing silence that surrounds you. We are looking forward to your visit, Cecielie and Christoph

Rondane River Lodge was recommended to us by friends as we were looking for a place to stay near Rondane National Park. We stayed in one of the cabins for a week and enjoyed our time there very much. Even though the cabins are perfectly equipped to cook your own meals, we had dinner at their restaurant three times and each time we absolutely loved the food. The owners are super friendly and helpful with any questions you have. The atmosphere is very relaxed. A place you are looking forward to get back to after a day of hiking in the beautiful area surrounding the lodge. The cabins are very cozy and you find everything you need. We would definitely book again.

This was my second stay at the River Lodge and I am just as pleased with my stay as I was last time. I arrived several hours earlier than I first anticipated, but this was no problem, as my room was already cleaned and ready for me. After relaxing and taking a shower in the lovely old-fashioned room with a river view, I went down to eat dinner at 7pm. Since there was only me there for dinner I got to sit in the living room where there was a warm burning fireplace and soft music to accompany me. The dinner was delicious and they had taken great care to make it gluten- and lactose free, just as I had requested. Following the dinner I went back to my room, where the soft bed and complete silence made me fall asleep easily, not waking up until it was time for breakfast. In the morning I was positively surprised by the extra effort they had put into delicately arranging my breakfast, from the variety of cheeses and meat, to the cute small coffee pot and glass bottle for my apple juice. They topped it with a smiley face written with a marker on a warm hard-boiled egg. Upon leaving, one of the owners´sweet children took her attention away from her drawing activity to wave me good-bye! The Rondane River Lodge was the perfect sleep-over stop for me on my trip from Trondheim to Oslo. I already look forward to next time!

Amazing place to stay. The cabin was really cosy and authentic to stay in. The hosts were só friendly and they created an atmosphere where you feel you're their only customer, such sweet hosts. Brilliant food as well. The scenery around the river lodge are just beautiful and if you don't know what to do, the hosts alway find an activity to your wants and needs. Would recommend!

The rondane river lodge organised a white water rescue course and a packraft guides course last week. The course was really well organised by Bart and Benjamin and we were able to stay in either their cozy cabins or hotel rooms. The lodge is located in a beautiful area, the staff is wonderful and the food is absolutely amazing! I am quite difficult to cater for as I eat gluten-free and vegan, and Karen and Ellen surprised me every single time with amazing dinners, deserts etc. I am very much looking forward to going back!!!

Just spent 9 nights at the lodge and got to stay both in a hotel room and a cabin and it was amazing. It’s a family ran business and the staff is very helpful and makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. Beautiful area with plenty of nature to explore and rivers to paddle. The lodge offers activities and I strongly recommend to try packrafting, it’s an amazing way to discover the pristine nature of Rondane.

I have stayed twice at Rondane River Lodge during summer time and enjoyed it immensely. To begin with, it's a very picturesque compound with the main building and surrounding log cabins, by a river nestled between hills that rise up to rolling mountains. It is suitable for all kinds of travelers, be it alone to explore hiking and fishing in the area, or for couples who enjoy the outdoors, and also with children of all ages. Benjamin, Karen and crew do an amazing job in making you feel comfortable and at ease. With Karen's Belgian culinary skills you can be sure to enjoy tasty and varied meals, which she easily adapts to vegetarians too. Do I need to mention they have great Belgian waffles? Benjamin has vast experience in travelling and organizing group travels in Norway and knows also Rondane like his back pocket. I have taken his advice on hikes, sights, destinations and such and been rewarded with great experiences each time. He knows all the hiking trails from his own experience and will recommend the right level and the peaks with the best views (which are so breathtaking there is even a famous painting of it in the National Gallery in Oslo). This lovely place puts hospitality first, they love what they do and are very knowledgeable about the area, and you can be sure to have an enjoyable holiday stay.

I stayed in one of the larger cabins. It was very comfortable and cool, which was great as it was very hot during the first few days of our stay. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped. It didn't have an oven, but it had a stove with two cooking rings and a fridge. There was wifi, but the signal wasn't terribly strong. We didn't think this was a big problem. The hosts are fantastic, and took excellent care of us, even when I had an unexpected problem. They know the area really well, and had lots of recommendations for places to visit. I'm saving the best for last - the food. They serve waffles every afternoon in the summer - not just Norwegian waffles, but Brussels and Liege waffles. What a treat! They also serve a three-course meal for dinner, and it is excellent value. Especially considering the quality of the food. They focus on locally sourced ingredients, but prepare them their own way, with excellent results. They offer breakfast, but we didn't try it. I'm sure it was good. I really hope I get the chance to return. I heartily recommend a stay here, or booking in for dinner. I would be surprised if you could get a better meal elsewhere in the area.
