Perfect getaway in Somerset :) Went for a long weekend for a friend's wedding. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Very beautiful town and not far from Frome and Cheddar Gorge. Even stopped at Stonehenge on the way back to London. Also, great food at the George.

We stayed 2 nights at the george. we had the castle suite which was very nice and nice size! Staff were very friendly & food was amazing, liked the fact it's in a quiete village. Gardens were very nice rear garden was very private with walls all round.

We looked forward to visiting The George as it has recently undergone refurbishment and our first impressions were good. They have made a very attractive seating area overlooking the stream which runs through the village and extended their parking which was a great help. Inside the pub has been thoroughly refurbished although a little bit too "Next" for my taste... More

Went for early evening dinner with my 3 sons and some friends. Excellent food and great value as pizzas were 2 for 1 between 5.30 pm and 7pm. Staff friendly and understanding with small kids. Only slight issue was the flies!

We had a brilliant meal. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant is especially pleasant and comfortable. The walled garden at the back is a great place to sit and have a drink when the weather's fine. Since we discovered The George a few months ago we have been back several times and taken friends.

Went for my husbands birthday, flies everywhere which was very off putting. Waiting staff bordering on being rude, waited a long time for menus had to ask in the end. Food arrived eventually, meal was getting cold as we waited a while for the disgusting veg to arrive, cauliflower was really hard and partly green in colour, carrots spongy, roast potatoes... More

So disappointed. I usually love it here, I come here regularly so my boyfriend came here for his 21st birthday meal as it's one of his favourite places. There was 9 of us (family had travelled a long way to be here). We ordered a few starters to share, was only garlic bread. After 55 minutes we still hadn't had... More

Four of us ate here August 2016 , we did not book so the only space left was in the back room -(the old restaurant) it is obviously the overflow for the lovely cosy other rooms, where children and dogs are allowed and does not have the feel of the main rooms,it did feel like we were being ushered out... Caught up with friends for a meal. Monday night is 2 for 1 Burgers, very tasty with fries. Choice of dessert, unfortunately limited as choices were sold out (this being a busy Monday evening). Have not visited The George for a number of years still a busy lively place in a beautiful village setting, steeped in history. The only downside... More

Went for a family celebration encouraged by all the positive reviews of The George, what a disappointment! Upon getting there we were seated at a table directly underneath a lamp to attract and kill flies, of which there were many. The fly killer clearly did not work as the flies were walking across the bulb, there were also many on... More
