It was a pleasant stay and we were warmly welcomed. Very flexible manager who were very hospitable. Honest and informative manger. Could have done better on bed linen. Public showers and wash rooms require maintenance.
The “Passi Bay Hotel” as the locals (and most of the Tuk-Tuk Drivers) call it is situated nearly perfectly between the two beaches Passikudah and Kalkudah. From the outside it is quite an impressive building, especially taking into account that most buildings around are just one or two storied. We had a warm welcome from the manager and a welcoming drink. The rooms are not too spacious but ok if you book a double room. With our kids we had a triple room and the extra bed made walking space quite scarce. The room was not too clean, bed sheets are tidy but old. AC and fan worked well. There is a fridge but no water kettle, free water is provided day by day. There is a TV but channels didn’t work properly. Bathroom showed clear signs of decay and wasn’t cleaned thoroughly before our stay. There was only cold water although “cold” means lukewarm in European measures. Room service was provided day by day but not as effective as to be expected in a middle – class hotel. Breakfast was either Sri-Lankan or continental and quite rich. Especially the waitress caring for us at the restaurant needs to be mentioned because of her friendly, helpful and attentive attitude. Lunch is available although we never tried it but in the evenings the restaurant usually is closed. It is possible to order dinner in advance, though. We usually ate outside although options are rare if you want food within walking distance. There is a pool besides the restaurant which might be the highlight of this hotel at this price-level. The kids loved it and it is quite big but there are regularly issues concerning maintenance although staff caring for the pool are fighting against the failing technique. The whole staff was very friendly and helpful, especially child-friendly. The manager was very keen on helping, explaining, virtually all the time around and available for every issue. Some of the complaints of previous reviews were already settled, e.g. the WIFI was perfectly working all over hotel grounds. In summary the hotel offers reasonable accommodation and service for a reasonable price. There are downsides as stated above but if one can cope with this especially the friendliness of the staff and the beautiful beaches around make this place very much worth the visit.…
We are staying in one of nearby hotel and we wanted to have a dinner out. In the afternoon we stopped here to check the menu. It looked nice so we communicated the arrival time and the waitress asked us to come 30 mins before cause she had to go back home...ok. Once we arrived we asked for a salad and it wasn't possible, then we asked for a spring vegetable roll and it wasn't available and when she came back from the kitchen she told us just few dishes we could choose. Ok.. then we asked for a sandwich (how much time it will take??? 5 mins?) She said that the chef was angry for the 15 orders that has received and He didn't want to make it.. so absolutely not recommended!!
we came to have lunch on our way home. Very dissapointing to have found any fan is not working, full of flies , no toilet paper in washroom .. Really no value for what we pay, crows coming close to dining table
This popular hotel is now under new management and offers very comfortable accommodation, good quality sleep, good meals and is very close to the popular Passikudah Beach. The Hotel also has a swimming pool. The place needs a lot of simple maintenance to improve the hotel
