We arrived early morning and the staff was kind enough to be on duty till we arrived. The A/C and hot water worked. Room was fairly large and ok. There is a large balcony area that overlooks the main road. Did not eat. Its a good value option. Beach is a short tuk ride away. Clean.
Stayed here a night as we arrived too early to check in to our hotel. The room and bathroom were clean, but it's a place you'd take your own towel to. Hot water didn't work but the ac did. We didn't have any meals here
Unfortutanately below standard for us, on our family trip to Sri Lanka. In my opinion, the owner was not clear on what she delivered for the price. If you stay there, be sure to check in advance before you agree to stay. And as an example, after we returned from the beach on a very hot day, and I asked her for the A/C remote, she told us that our room did not include the A/C. We decided to stay with the room we had but it it was our worst night in Sri Lanka. I had to ask her for the bedding as there was nothing in the room. The TV had bad reception, the WIFI was only available between certain times and could not accessed easily from the room, the bathroom began to smell if you didn't turn the fan on, the soap dish fell off the bathroom wall when touched and the fan setting (on high) was not efficient enough to cool or keep the mosquitos at bay in the room. The food provided was tasty and the guest house did have their own tuk-tuk. On the whole, not a good experience and we would not stay again.…
My mother and I had a nice stay at Mercy's place. Unfortunately we could stay only one night. The room is good if you just stay for a night or two. We mostly enjoyed the closeby secluded beach. Just like paradise! Breakfast and dinner were great and authentic. You should try the hibiscussalad and the papaya from Mercy's garden. Mercy is a strong woman running that business all by herself and with the help of two nice boys. We shared a lot of laughter and stories. A welcoming family hotel!
Decent guesthouse with friendly staff and clean rooms, but dining with the entire family is not for everyone and it's quite far from the Kalkudah and Pasikudah beaches, which aren't that spectacular in itself (Sri Lanka has much, much better beaches to offer!).
