Don’t expect to bring your screaming children here and still enjoy what’s on offer. This is a ‘grown-up’ place of sophistication, easy living and charm, presided over by the softly spoken and attentive owner, Stakis.

The ease of access to swimming (there is no beach, just stone steps from terrace to sea), proximity of good eating and drinking in Limeni, and general murmer of people, sea and boats bring this high up the list of places to holiday in the Mani. However it is possible to stay within these four walls and dine to a high standard or enjoy the beautifully presented breakfasts above the rocks, watching turtles and fish in clear water beneath.

The totally winning feature though is the architecture. It would be wrong to think that these stone boxes of the Mani make good homes, but they can certainly make for part of a holiday sensation and no better place or location than hotel PM. I hope people find this review helpful.

What a special and gorgeous hotel this is, and what a superb host Sakis was for our stay. This has to be the most beautiful setting for a hotel we have travelled to. Set right onto the seas edge in the stunning village of Limeni, our stay was perfect. Our room was small but perfectly formed with windows opening out onto the sea with an area outside our window for 2 sunbeds to lounge away the hours in between dipping into the sea which was literally a dozen steps away. The breakfasts were delicious, starting the day with greek yoghurt, honey, nuts, fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, superb coffee, varying greek speciality breakfast items and again the best view ever! Our host, Sakis gave us suggestions for dinner, as they were not on this occasion open every night for dinner (we did enjoy a delicious dinner of fresh fish and vegetables one night there).... Nothing was too much trouble and his small and dedicated staff were friendly and helpful. We also were lucky enough to encounter the local turtles who swim around the bay during the summer months waiting for bits of food from the local tavernas!! Quite an experience to swim near them. The whole experience was quite possibly one of the best adverts for coming to Greece, and especially the stunning Mani peninsula which we got the chance to explore. It felt like a home from home and we cannot recommend it enough to anyone who wants a peaceful, high-class but homely stay in this lovely area.

What a great stay at Pirgos Mavromichali in Limeni! Beautiful view of the bay, very comfortable and spacious rooms, easy walk down to the water for swimming and watersports, and fantastic breakfast and other meals available right on site. Not to mention the courteous and attentive service from the staff. You could stay in the property for a week and be happy, but there are a number of good restaurants right up the street as well, and Limeni is a convenient location from which to base trips to other sites in the Mani peninsula area. Highly recommended.

HORRIBLE!!!!! Big mistake staying there. The view is breathtaking and the location as good as it gets. Other than the natural beauty that surrounds this hotel there is nothing else good I have to say about this place. The rooms are disappointing as they are small, dark with only a tiny window and mediocre at best. The most unwelcoming staff I have EVER come across in all my many years of travel. I am a very easy going person who tried to enjoy the beautiful scenery (at a mighty price I might add) and they just wouldn’t let me!! From the minute we arrived they caused an issue. I couldn’t understand at first why but then I realized they do not want kids and we have a five year old. Someone else made the reservation for us and apparently neglected to mention this. Their was plenty of space in our room but they were were not happy about it and you could tell by their rudeness. They caused an issue cause we ordered breakfast at 10:10 when breakfast ends at 10:30. They booted us out at 11:00 sharp and wouldn’t even allow us to use the beach chairs for a dip in the beach. Long story short they absolutely went out of their way to ruin our stay because we have a kid. I personally wouldn’t recommend it to anyone simply because they are not good well intentioned and welcoming hosts.

Overall a very disappointing stay - the owner and assistant manager did not make us feel welcome and provided very little information on what was available to us.
Sun lounges are not available for every room as advertised. They also allocate them to specific rooms which results in some guests missing out making it impossible for guests to enjoy the terrace. Also there is no shade on the terrace from the afternoon sun.
Parking is also not provided on site and as Limeni has limited parking spots - you have to be fortunate to find a spot nearby.
Also our room had problems with the air conditioning and it only worked in the early morning when the temperature was mild.

The beautifully restored 18th century Mani tower hotel forms part of the stark tiny village of Limeni made of blinding white stone surrounded by a crystal clear turquoise sea. A swim straight from our comfy minimalist room, via easily accessible steps into the cold May waters, is a definite Must! On the terrace, generous delicious breakfasts and exquisite dinners are served by the attentive staff. Our host and owner is charming and warm. With only a few rooms, a stay at Pyrgos Mavromichali, feels both private and personal. I wish we could have stayed longer.

This is the most amazing place to stay. The views are stunning, Stakis and his staff could not be more welcoming, the rooms are delightful and the conversion of this historic building beautifully achieved. Enjoying our delicious breakfast overlooking the bay was the perfect start to the day and next time we will sample the evening meal. There will certainly be a next time!

A unique place to relax and admire how the long efforts and the good taste of the owner have resulted into a magnificent conversion from an old castle house into a wonderful boutique hotel!
Breakfast with a grat variety of specialties. Personalised and attentive service. The access to the sea to swim was 5 meters from our terrace door! Veru quite and discrete. Near by a small number of bars, restaurants , boutiques etc. Also close enough to visit very ineresting places like the Old Oitilon, a monastry Areopolis and Gerolimenas!

We had a super stay at this lovely hotel. Sakis and his team made our stay so enjoyable. The hotel is simply beautiful and the setting idyllic. The breakfast is delicious as is the food served in their own restaurant. We cannot wait to return. Such a special place. Thoroughly recommend.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September- we wished we had booked more time! What a wonderful hotel and the family that run the hotel are fabulous hosts. The hotel is located in a wonderful position only a step away from the gorgeous bay where sea turtles have made their home. We hope to return again someday soon - Perfect 👍

Small window onto the sea.....nothing spectacular....but nice just the same......most of the hotels on the sea there are the same......not huge sweeping views from the rooms....but the patios, sun lounge areas and eating areas make up for that!!.....lovely sunsets from there as well

Yes, there are!!! More than one. I personally recommend Takis Tavern. Go there for fresh fish (avoid the silly shrimp-spaghetti).
