We stopped for 2 nights on our way to Italy. The hotel seems to be run on the cheap by a group of jovial young students who are very friendly. after 10pm the hotel is unmanned. The breakfast area is spacious. The dedicated parking area is very convenient at ground floor level. The rooms are basic and clean. Wifi in...

Only worth a 2* rating in our option. Room was clean as was the bedding but plastic bed covers made sleeping uncomfortable but I guess they cater for a particular type of client. We ate at one of the few restaurants around the corner and skipped their breakfast option. We just crashed here for a night while heading for the...

We spent a week here on a skiing holiday. The staff were all very friendly and polite - a couple English-speaking but others prepared to give it a good go if you struggle with French. The double room was spacious and clean with a comfy big bed. A good size bath/shower room, also clean if a little tired looking. And...

Full disclosure: I had a different (all-in) hotel in mind for our holidays, but my friends booked this one because of the price. It was indeed impossible to beat at €207/7 nights per person. My friends (another couple) got there by public transport (eurolines bus), and we went by car. There's free private parking next to the hotel. We arrived...

This hotel definitely has an ongoing refurbishment, and you can see that some things are already done, but the rest is left to guests witnessing. We definitely appreciated a very friendly English speaking staff at the reception. The room was clean, there were clean bed linens and all the rest. Was a very pleasant sleep. However, the illumination in the...

We were at Vauban for one night, arriving quite late at night. The double room came at little more than 60€. What came for free were: - the half peeled-off cheap blue paperish cover of the stairway - the smell of plaster in the room - the plastic moquette everywhere (including the whole bathroom), which was badly glued with small...

Dirty bathroom, dirty wardrobe, stiflingly hot smelly corridors and room not much better. It could be so much better with some basic maintenance. Breakfast was not too bad and there was plenty of off road parking. Think very carefully before booking

We visited in the first week of March for a skiing holiday, first impressions of the hotel were that the staff were very friendly and helpful but there was a funny smell of eggs that didn't go away throughout the entire stay! :-(. Room was ok, plus points it had bath which was great after skiing and a balcony with...

I just returned from a 7 night stay at Hotel Vauban in Briancon, France. I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. The room appeared to have been recently updated with fresh paint and new flooring. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was very typical of a European hotel. The dinners we ate every night at...

Furniture from the 60ies, 70ies, small bathroom from the late 60ies, lighting in the corridor out of order, walls spotted, disgusting dirty wall to wall carpet, rolling shutter at the window of the room out of order. If you want to see something original from the late 60ies unrestored: go for! If not: leave it immediately!
