We stayed at the Fort Royal Hotel during our visit to places around the south of Haiti. To be clear, traveling in Haiti is a challenge and finding hotels in this part of Haiti is also not easy (especially if you are not from this country). We had hired a driver for our entire trip so getting to Petit Goave was easy. The hotel is gated and near the ocean. It has beautiful grounds with interesting relief art on the walls. The food was amazing. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff are attentive and helpful. Keep in mind, you do not walk outside the hotel grounds on your own and the people of Petit Goave are living in poverty. So, to find such a beautiful place to stay is a testament to the people who run this hotel. A great place for seasoned travelers (not for westerners who expect a local hotel to have the same amenities as the Marriott: like electricity 24/7--though we did not have problems with this during our stay). I hope to have a chance to return someday.

Absolutely stunning hotell with really friendly and totally service minded staff! Breakfast and dinner buffet is one of the best I've been eating in a "all inclusive/ half pension" hotell, the good specially in the evening is really good. Not hundreds of food to chose between but the ones who are is made by love and passion. A lot to do and see around in the area, all of the guides allt the hotell love to tell their golden spots around. Easy to book trips and really high standard on both trips, food and the rooms. Nice and clean on the beach and in the water. Definitely coming back!

Having just arrived in Haiti and beginning a two year stint, this place was our first stop outside port au prince. It was an amazing green drive with views of the ocean appearing and disappearing all the way up until we approached the town of Petit Goav. We were greeted by a very friendly duo of father and son, running the hotel and a great new terrace on the water, which I spent most of my time around. There was wifi available, very affordable fresh seafood sourced from their private pier, and a cool risotto kind of dish which must have been a Haitian dish I just haven't had a chance to try anywhere else yet. The power is on generator, like most places in Haiti, but they have a full time inverter for lights, internet, etc during the day when the former isn't running. The staff spoke creole and french, and the owners English as well. It was great to see this place, explore the black sands beaches around the corner, and make some new friends. We hope to see the other white sands beaches that belong to this same hotel company only a short ride away. Soon!

Really appreciated the Owner, Manager and the staff. It is not a resort but a Charming Haitian Boutique Hotel. So go with that expectation. sometimes the power on the island goes out and they have to use generators, which during our time there was most of the time. Many of the staff speak only Creole and a little French but with most basic things it is easy to communicate what you need or want. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were adequate for our needs. we felt safe and secure the whole time there. We met many foreign workers and diplomats during our stay there. The owner and manager both speak fluent English which really helped us out communicating with the other staff on a couple occasions. They have the most charming ocean side bar where, on a couple occasions (after a long day), we would go and unwind while watching the most beautiful sunsets. Go with the correct expectations and you will thoroughly enjoy your experience here. Please bring tennis gear down to give away to the hotel as they run a community outreach program for local children. Many volunteers take part to allow kids an opportunity that otherwise they wouldnt have.
