After a 10 days trip in Iran, we can say that all the hotels (restaurants and people also) were a 5 star experience. Unfortunately, our last 2 nights were at Vali's homestay. We're sleeping in the dorm (dirty basement where you can only breathe dust). I could stand this conditions if the price was fair, but it's overpriced. Breakfast and... More

Stayed here a few days and have nothing but good things to say about this place. The rooms are average, but perfectly adequate, exactly what backpackers should expect for a hostel in Iran. Make sure you take the time to spend an evening meal, a chay, or just a chat with Vali - a genuine and honest man - he... More

I have to say that I dind stay in this hostel, but I have to rate it so I give it 4, just to put something. I just want to say that there is no need to do hostels in Iran, have been dooing couchsurfing and it works very very good. Iranians are the nicest people. Just do an acunt... More

We arrived in Mashhad on the eve of Ashura celebrations, and planning accordingly to LPs indications ('it is impossible to find accomodation in the city during big celebrations') we booked in advance a double room. Upon arrival, Vali greeted us and showed us the 'double room': a filmsy door with Vali's pictures attached to it separed the very dirty room... More

it was not a kind of homestay. it is like a hostel. i myself believe payam homestay in tehran is something like homestay. in vali's hostel like a dormitory the privacy is not respectable. payampamchal is the name of him.it is in the center of tehran close to public transport and attractions. vali's hostel is good for any person cannot... Pro's - Good for meeting people - He helped me a bit with the Turkmen visa (but he has no connections with the embassey) - Free tea if you ask Con's - Vali is a sales man. He makes a lot of money and pretends to be a poor guy who has to run two jobs. He acts like he... More

If you're travelling in Mashhad, Vali's Homestay should be your only option. Usually, I prefer to stay somewhere that is not bogged down by lots of other Western travellers, but after roaming Iran for weeks without meeting anyone other tourists, it was nice to stay somewhere that I could find other people with whom I could do touristy activities. If... More

We were attended by other guests when we arrived, because Vali was not there nor any of his servant-relatives. Vali treated his wife and children in a despotic way that made us all ashamed. Other than that, the quality was the lowest I´ve found in Iran

After monumental cock ups by a certain visa company, our rally was nearly over in Iran. Vali went above and beyond to help us out (infinitely more so than our guide) and the big shared meals were a real highlight, especially after a week of struggling with vegetarian food across Iran.

We arrived in Vali's guesthouse after we got the sad news that we didn't get the Turkmen transit visa. He helped us out in the best way you could image ! He helped us to get a plane ticket asap and he got us a bed to rest for a couple of hours. The food we received was tasteful. He's... More
