After more than 30 years of working away from home, I still find one of the biggest challenges is finding accommodation that has everything you need to make you feel "at home" without charging the earth. Villa Tartine has this elusive quality and I would not hesitate to return when I need to work in the Puurs region again. Tine is a perfect host and nothing is too much trouble.
Smart and kind hosts welcomed me in their luxurious renovated country house. Comfort and beauty all around, great taste, super views of the countryside, delicious breakfast, this place is a dream. You can relax to the point you never wanna leave again
Certainly, you don't go in this region by coincidence, halfway between Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent, among green fields, cows, sheep and horses. The main reason is probably a business trip to this region or a relaxing weekend with a bike tour or hiking. Regardless the reason, it is worth doing it! Already when driving to Villa Tartine (GPS obligatory), you'll instantly see that the style of houses along the streets is remarkable, combining old with new in a Scandinavian type of architecture, a true architects' playground. And so is ViIla Tartine, A beautifully build house with large glass windows, pure, clearly structured and modern interior. You can see that everything has been thought through from lights to furniture to comfortable beds to the huge shower, a delicious homemade healthy breakfast with eggs from the very own chicken (no rooster there, don't worry about your sleep). Many small hotels could learn from the way this has been planned. The two proud owners are very kind and will help you with everything you need to know. If you need to visit this region, that's the place to go.…
For those who not need to stay inside the city of Antwerp, but only look for tranquillity, I can strongly recommend the Villa Tarting. You will need a car to get there though. The design of each room is extraordinary, very well equipped and most of all one of the best beds I have ever slept in (apart from my bed at home!). Only breakfast is served, but superb restaurants are close by.
I travel on business regularly and stay in many hotels from family run concerns to large international corporate chains. However I discovered Villa Tartine in January and was glad that I did, I have stayed here 4 times now in 3 months. I have always had an excellent nights sleep in the modern, spacious and very comfortable rooms, and it is so much more personal than staying in any hotel. The use of the microwave and tea/coffee facilities on an evening gives you a feeling of independence should you miss home! However this is contrasted with a very personal breakfast service of fresh yoghurt/smoothies/orange juice and a choice of egg prepared just for you when you want it!
