The inn is located in a narrow valley about 1 km from the small town of Alausi (reachable by a $1 taxi ride from town). Most tourists come to Alausi to ride the Nariz del Diablo train, a 2-hour round-trip through a canyon on a refurbished train to the "Devil's Nose" mountain. The inn's rooms sit just above a rushing river, and the sound of the river acts as white noise so it's actually quite restful. The rooms are simply furnished in a rustic style, with a small en suite bathroom in each. There's a dining room/lounge area where a good breakfast is served (included in the reasonable price). Outside the long row of rooms is a wonderful garden tended by the owners, a hospitable couple. It's full of interesting plants, and the husband helpfully explains what everything is and offers tastes of ripe fruit (had my first ever tree tomato here). The lodging/breakfast part is managed mostly by the wife and she does a very nice job keeping things running smoothly. Not a lot of English is spoken here, but it's pretty easy to communicate with simple Spanish. Staying at this inn was a very enjoyable local experience.

The hosteria has a wonderful site within earshot of a white-noise stream. Small but comfortable rooms, wifi in some common areas. Loved looking into the canyon as the fog rolled in, impressive veg garden (with tree tomato and babaco). Had a cuppa and sitdown with manager (or spouse) on the antique-laden porch, & meet the pets. Breakfast was ample (good coffee). The owner, himself, offered to pick me up from the bus station, and drop me off at the train, no extra charge. Recommended. You can reserve on booking.com, or directly for a discount.

We stayed one night in Rincon de Isabel. They have a beautiful garden outside of the hotel rooms, and the breakfast was fresh and amazing in a lovely new dining room overlooking the river. The sound of the river rushing by at night was also really nice.

This also looks like a great space for local meetings. The owners were very friendly.

This hotel is just outside the city, 5 min by car, but still within walking distance, more less 25 min from Alausi down to the hosteria in a safe area. The owners, an older couple are very friendly with a few friendly dogs. The rooms are simple and clean like the bathroom with warm water. Behind the rooms runs a small stream, giving a relaxing sound to the already relaxing atmosphere. In front of the rooms there is a beautiful garden with many fruits and vegetables growing. Breakfast is ok, bread, eggs, juice and good coffee.

I stayed here for only one night, to catch the train to the Devil's Nose (Nariz del Diablo). The hosteria is run by a friendly retired couple who have several dogs (some friendlier than others). The rooms are simple and clean, and the bathrooms are small but exceptionally clean. The breakfast is tasty; I especially liked that they serve tomato juice from their own garden. A creek runs nearby -- a (sound) feature you'll either enjoy or curse -- I enjoyed it. WiFi is free but slow. My main concern, however, is the location: it is a solid 30-minute walk (uphill) to the train station, and it can get hot. Also, there are nasty gnats (apparently due to El Nino and climate change, according to the proprietors), so carry repellent with plenty of DEET.

My friend and I stayed in Alausi for three nights – at least two more nights than most people stay! But Hosteria Rincon de Isabel is a great place to relax for a couple of days and Alausi is a great little town worth exploring above and beyond the famous La Nariz del Diablo.

Upon arrival we received a very warm, friendly welcome (the owners are very friendly in general) and were shown to our very comfortable, albeit small, room. The beds were incredible (one of the comfiest I slept on in my time in South America) and so warm! The clean linen also smelt amazing :) Our room was cleaned and towels changed each day we were out exploring. The room could, however, have used a trash can in the main area of the room as well as the one in the bathroom. Also note that the rooms are VERY small (there’s really not much room to move/spread out). In addition, our bathroom door wouldn't shut, unless we slammed it – and the bathroom door handle was falling off.

There’s also a bright, open common area for guests’ use – this is the only place you can get wifi, but even then only in some parts of the common area. There’s also a TV and a great view out the windows into the misty valley surrounding the property. The wifi connection, however, was iffy/weak and turned itself on and off randomly.

A good breakfast (cheese, jam, bread, juice, tea, eggs – each day was a little different) was included in the price.

The hosteria is a little ways out of town, but it’s a decent and pleasurable 25-minute walk (uphill) to get into town – it’s also a good walk back (all downhill!). Very safe area to walk.

The owner was very kind in helping us to do laundry whilst there.

Overall, Hosteria Rincon de Isabel has a very peaceful, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere – there’s a small river rushing by, tall gum trees everywhere (they smell so good!), a long valley and great views surrounding the hosteria. I do, however, think the price is a little steep for what you get. That being said, it was a wonderful stay and I’d stay there again!

Alausi is a really nice small town that is often skipped over. This hotel is just outside the city, but still within walking distance. Angelita and Victor began the hotel and named it after their daughter. They have an amazing garden in front, and if you just ask nicely, Victor will happily give you a tour. Rooms are basic and clean. Wifi is slow, but functional, and the food is delicious.
