Spread over 3 ocean front properties in Playa El Esteron / Playa Las Flores, El Salvador, La Tortuga Verde is dedicated to living a greener lifestyle in harmony with sea turtles, pelicans, and nature. Large screened-in "salas" in each of the private rooms provide the perfect air-flow design for optimum ocean listening as indirect lighting creates the perfect atmosphere for stargazing and observing the turtle habitat. The property boasts over 400 coconut trees and 3 restaurants. The main restaurant specializes in fresh fish, lobster, shrimp, poultry and local plates using only the freshest fruits and vegetables. The vegetarian restaurant uses organic ingredients whenever possible including sting beans, basil, rosemary and mint from our organic garden. Our ocean front bar restaurant offers cold beer, and a wide variety of cocktails. The bar also serves fresh home made pizza and fish, chicken, shrimp or meat bruchettes made with special bread from Guatemala and fresh basil and rosemary from our organic garden. In addition the bar offers 1 special continental meal per night offered in half or full portions. Also Known As: La Tortuga Verde Hotel El Cuco La Tortuga Verde El Salvador/El Cuco

The concept of this place is to help the environment and the turtles but I am really mad right now because they just do it for the show. The people who are supposed to release the turtles let everybody hold them and touch them. I even saw some people take the turtles with them.

I loved this place so much! The beach is awesome, you can make long walks and the hotel area is really nice. The highlight was releasing the baby turtles in the ocean. I totally recommend this place! I really enjoyed.

The place is a hidden gem, guarded by soldiers nearby, and accommodating to my grandmother who has trouble walking. They picked her up from the entrance on a pickup truck and took her right to the hammock. The food was yummy, views were amazing, and the facility was clean and

We visited La Tortuga for lunch after trying desperately to book here for several days and never getting a response to our e mails. Although it's perfectly fine, we are rather glad we could not book it and stayed somewhere else instead. Plus points: Very relaxed, quiet (in

Reviewer: All i can say is absoulte paradise. LTV: thank you..you are very kind.. I am Tom Pollak and I am the owner of La Tortuga Verde.. when I started off to create LTV I wanted to create a place where the world would come to visit and after 9 years in operation we are changing our tagline from " where turtles come to swim free" to.." the world comes to la tortuga verde" ... Reviewer: Love this place and going back in october this year. LTV: we'll be here ... and there should be lots of turtles hatching in October...we've been buying turtle eggs like crazy this month and as you might or might not know turtles hatch in 49 - 52 days so the resort should be jumping with new baby turtles ready to make their way to the ocean when you are here in October.. Reviewer: Stunning beaches LTV: Best in the country..so says everyone... not just me... its a known fact..the beach right at our doorstep is the most beautiful in el Salvador and really in Central America as well... or one of?? Reviewer: and amazing environment. LTV: we trim our trees to create tree tunnels as best we can and we have recycle bins everywhere to help with the environment. Reviewer: Highly recommend... anyone helping save the turtles is a hero in my book. LTV: I am not sure if I'm up to the level of hero ( but I want to thank you for your kindness) and I promise to continue to try and purchase and rebury more than 10,000 turtle eggs each year... By the way we are also a pelican sanctuary and return injured pelicans to flight and care for permanently injured pelicans that will never fly again. I want to personally invite everyone reading this review to come visit La Tortuga Verde and experience for themselves my simple little paradise.. hope to see you in the water... tom the pelican

Hi, I did the turtle release in both Monterrico in Guatemala and in El Salvador. I found both programs to be quite similar, but I actually preferred it at La Tortuga Verde because it is same day release. From what they told us in Guatemala, they keep the new born turtles for up to 48 hours before they release them. They give their reasons as to why they do this, which I respect, but I think it should be as natural a process as possible so I preferred the same day release. The volunteer could answer all of our questions and was really enthusiastic. As for your 18th month old, they'll definitely let him watch, but I'm not sure they will let him hold a turtle (incase he drops it!)

We do have apartments that come with a mini fridges and blenders and such and info on that is on our website. We now have a vegatarian restaurant on site with juices and raw salads. If you need a fridge in a private room you may need to ask latortugaverderest at yahoo or try an apartment! Can't wait to see you!
