I throughly enjoyed my stay. The guide was very informative on the fauna and flora. We did nature walks in the day and at night, canoed, and swam. Beautiful area surrounding a pristine lake that you reach going up river. The hut was very nice, frogs visiting in the bathroom were a delight! Very special place. Ecotourism is one of...

Chalalan was absolutely the best choice for a tour in the Amazon. After reading reviews of many other companies, I chose Chalalan due to their sustainability approach as well as their commitment to community development and wildlife preservation - which is something that many other companies operating out of Rurrenabaque don't hold up to (they feed and touch the animals)....

Chalalan has 16 years conserving biodiversity within the Madidi National Park and within the indigenous territory of San José de Uchupiamonas, owners of the hostel. In that time it has sought to reduce the environmental impact of this tourism operation avoiding both hunting and feeding of animals or other aggressive practices. We are very grateful that this component of our...

"I have returned to Chalalan 11 times now, the first in 2005. While it is sad to see the destruction of the jungle on the Tumupasa side, Chalalan has always kept the magic of a complete ecosystem. I worry about the increasing Chinese presence and their exporting of wildlife, and especially the hydrodam that would flood the area. I will...

The whole Chalalán team is very grateful for your preference and trust. We will always be with open arms for you. The contribution of the scientific community is fundamental, they help us to better understand the ecosystem that Chalalán has been protecting for 16 years, thanks to the visits of friends like you. I visited Chalalan three years ago and it was my first time in the Amazon Rainforest. Since then I have been back to the Amazon in Peru and worked as an Artist in residence on different Biological stations in the rain forests over a year. It is your guide Obi who is to thank for introducing me to the wonders...

We are very proud of the result of the effort and passion of our guides who, as natives born in the jungle, can find the most amazing and cryptic forms of life, which pass unnoticed to the visitor, even to the expert. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. We hope you can come back soon and enjoy nature with...

We are just back home after a nine week holiday in South America. The accommodation, the staff, the food and the environment were all great. The trip up the river to get there was a great introduction - lots of capybara. Tarantulas a short walk from the lodger and fresh jaguar paw prints not far away all added to the experience.

Nature is capricious, especially when it comes to revealing itself. We are very happy that you have been able to see wildlife during the climb trip to the lodge, which usually has surprises. Also, it is necessary to take advantage of the intense emotion that produces to see a fresh footprint of jaguar, is a singular experience. Thank you so...

Chalalan is an ecological lodge located in the heart of Madidi National Park, the most biodiverse on the planet, with more than 1000 species of birds and 1000 species of butterflies, in the heart of the Bolivian Amazon. The cabins are built in the traditional style of the Tacana indigenous people, with roofs of jatata (Geonoma deversa) and walls of chonta (Iriartea deltoidea), equipped with mosquito nets, private bathrooms, with a solar energy system that feeds the whole hostel and water Hot solar thermal for 30% of the accommodations. We accommodate up to 30 guests with all the comfort in the jungle. Our specialty is the environmental interpretation walks by the beautiful trails that leave from the shelter and the routes in rowing canoe by the lagoon Chalalan. This venture effectively contributes to the conservation of biodiversity and to the economy of the indigenous people of San José de Uchupiamonas, owner of the lodge. Our hostel is on the shore of the Chalalán lagoon, has double, triple and triple cabins, a dining room equipped with a bar and a rest room. It is possible to hold workshops, events and scientific expeditions, birdwatching, fungi, amphibians or just relax in the hammocks and contemplate the lagoon from our pier and our elevated viewpoint. ... more   less
