The pub was very friendly and welcoming, there is a pool table and darts to play on while you are waiting for your food. The menu is quite small but it does have something for everyone and it's probably a bit more expensive than most pub food but you can tell that is it alot better quality of food so...

Stopped here for lunch whilst travelling on holiday with our small dog. We were instantly made to feel welcome - the staff were friendly and the food freshly cooked and delicious. My husband particularly enjoyed the Barleycorn burger the staff recommended, and the chips were excellent. We always look for establishments that advertise as 'dog friendly', but sometimes the welcome...

We have been going to The Barleycorn for years but we had such a good time there last night I felt I had to write a review. My husband and I went for a belated anniversary meal and had such a great time. The food was superb as always and the atmosphere second to none, everyone there is so friendly...

I have reviewed this pub before and commented on how much the new landlord and family have revitalized this pub to be once again a great village local. No need to repeat those comments. When visiting my family this becomes pretty much my local - much enjoyed. This visit we needed to actually stay at the pub for seven nights...

I was very happy with my visit. I enjoyed an evening meal which was delicious. My room was clean and contained adequate facilitates. The hosts were friendly, accommodating and they catered for all my needs. The ambiance alone and the location are value for money

Took a farming discussion group of 15 here at short notice for lunch. Everyone had good food, cooked perfectly, and delivered altogether very quickly. All commented on the welcome they received, and the efficiency that our hosts showed when dealing with us as a large group. As a family we have also found the barleycorn family Sunday roast to take...

Staff welcoming, food home cooked, loccally sourced, plentiful and delicious. Other customers friendly. Rooms spacious and beds v. comfortable. All we could have wished, for a short break. Would happily have spent longer there. Central for a variety of attractions. We visited a motor museum in Calne and Lackock Abbey

This pub is situated on the main road but accommodation is at the back and therefore we found it quiet despite the road being busy. Evening meal in the pub was freshly cooked and tasty and the breakfast was equally so. The room was spacious and well equipped with very comfortable beds. All staff were friendly and very helpful. Would...

Took two Australian friends on the strength of food reviews. Not many vegetarian options which was disappointing. I just offered the feedback that it would have been really nice to have a few more options, but we were happy to make do. To my astonishment the lovely barman said - just let me go and ask chef what we might...
