The staff were friendly and dealt with a reservation problem quickly. Dinner and breakfast were average. Bedroom and bathroom was very large. Very noisy main road (lorries 24 hrs a day) if you stay in front bedrooms. Decor was dated. Good location and parking if travelling to the Borders. Close to Gretna Green.

Stayed here on the first night on tour to Scotland on our motorbike. There was good secure parking round the back and the gates were closed overnight. Hotel is a bit dated and a busy local pub also. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Asked for a quite room, with view to this being s pub. Got placed on the... More

We stayed here in July 2016 on our annual motorbike trip to the Lake District. The hotel is looking tired and could do with a little refurbushment. This is 2016 and with the economic climate we are in the hotel does offer excellent service at an affordable price. The rooms were clean and acceptable for the price we paid, even... More

The staff was warm and friendly. The room was clean. The food was good. The staff made every effort to make sure our stay was comfortable. The price of the rooms was reasonable. The hotel was located in a good location for traveling to a number of tourist destinations and was minutes from Carlisle.

Stopped off for lunch. Big old fashioned pub with dartboard. Not very cosy, tatty round the edges. Service friendly and food served promptly and nicely presented although we only had sandwiches. OK for a stop off, easy parking but not fine dining.

How unusual not only was the welcome from the staff excellent but so too was the welcome from the locals. We felt that we had been drinking in there for years. Food was of a very good standard and well priced. Dog friendly with walks along the River Esk close by. I would suggest you make this a place to... More

Had intended to meet friends in Gretna, but was very busy so decided to try here. Was glad as the food was very tasty and good value. Clean and very accomodating for our group of 4 adults and 2 children. Would certainly visit again.

We were here for 4 weeks, refugees of the Carlisle floods, apparently the only place within 15 miles that would take in our little dog according to our insurance agent. The welcome was very warm and friendly and the staff could not do enough for us. We had a lovely large room with everything we could ever need. The Wi-Fi... More
