The last few reviews correctly describe this excellent B&B. We only had one night but the two rooms were very clean and comfortable, the breakfast very good. Fiona was welcoming and friendly and the price was good value. I agree you really need a car if time is limited. This was an excellent base for visiting the distilleries.

We booked this guesthouse because it was great value compared to the rest of the accommodation on Islay and had two double rooms available for only 30 pounds per person per night. Unfortunately the ferry was full when we went over to Islay so we were restricted to taxis to get around the island. This location was about 10 minutes...

Spent 6 nights in a perfect bed and breakfast venue in ideal location, Fiona exceptionally welcoming and friendly, we just cannot fault this and would definitely stay here again. The accommodation was immaculate and there was plenty of choices for breakfast, the location was near the rain reserve and a mile from the beach, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Muirhead Croft is a small b&b (two rooms are available) located close to the Gruinart RSPB reserve. Although many visitors will drive around the island, this b&b is close enough to a bus stop to make it a practical choice for those who don't and need to get across from the ferry by public transport. I can't really fault the...

We just needed a 2 night stay for our trip to Islay and phoned Muirhead croft on arrival on the island. This b&b was perfectly placed for us being in a very quiet location close to the rspb reserve at Gruinart with lovely views over the fields in all directions. Our double room was en suite and both were very...

Spent 4 nights here. Very welcoming hostess Fiona who dished up a full cooked breakfast every morning. House was immaculate. Nothing to criticise. Would definitely stay again. Good value for money and during whisky festival week.

The hosts are verij friendly and welcoming. The double room is very spacious, just like the ensuite facilities. The breakfast was great, every morning there were different items on your plate. The location is in the countryside with great views. It's a nice and quiet location. A real gem to make a visit.

I stayed at Muirhead Croft for a couple of nights during the Islay Feis Ile 2012 whisky festival. I was happy to have found a room on only a couple days notice - Fiona replied to my email promptly. The house seemed relatively newly built, and the room and bathroom were clean and well kept. The bathroom for my room...

We stayed here for four nights and everything was absolutely first class. Fiona was a delightful hostess and did everything that she could to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. The room was spotless with a lovely big shower. Being a local girl she knew the island and could tell you all the places to go, and which distilleries to...

I spent 4 days on Islay on a Whisky tour with two friends. Islay is a small island with a small population of 3500, there are 8 world-class whiskey distilleries. Especially when the sun is shining, Islay is very nice, but even with typical Scottish weather the island is charming. We stayed at a B&B called Muirhead Croft. It is a...
