We couldn’t go on our trip due to an emergency. We tried two contact numbers. One had no record of our reservation. The other went to voicemail and our call was not returned. We also sent an email and received no reply. We were unable to try to change or even cancel our reservation.

We were not impressed with our stay. When we booked this place 3 months in advanced. We were told we would get a Bay View Room multiple times when we called the front desk. But when we checked in, they told us all Bay Rooms were booked. Very disappointing. If you book this place and are not part of their timeshare, you will be getting a room above the back parking lot. This place really needs to be updated. Halls and floors are worn, Rooms are dark, furniture outdated and large. Kitchen was missing items, bathrooms toilets clogged. Front desk was helpful in finding us missing items. Overall, we liked the location. You are close to everything, and some businesses are within walking distance. Front desk employees were very helpful. Nightly room rates need to be adjusted lower, since most hotel amenities have halted due to covid.

We regret that you were not 100% satisfied during your recent stay with us at Sandcastle Birch Bay. We strive to exceed all guests’ expectations all the time. Your review is extremely uncharacteristic of the experience of most of our guests. Please let us know at the front desk while you are in residence in the future and we will address any issues that you are having, as we strive for a five!

This is such a nice place. Granted there's a little wear and tear (worn fabric on the couch, dings on table legs, our toilet paper roll fell off the wall), but it's an older hotel and it allows kids and pets (in some rooms), so there's no way to keep it pristine. Our balcony faced the parking lot, but if you just looked to the right you could see the bay and it was lovely! We also enjoyed having a few dinners on the roof where you just had a fantastic view! This place took tons of COVID precautions from everyone wearing a mask inside, to constantly having cleaning staff walk around sanitizing rails and common areas. The elevator even had hand sanitizer available so you could clean your hands while waiting for your elevator. The staff obviously can't help if other patrons aren't covered with a mask, but they reminded a few people, and no one seemed upset. The beach itself is very rocky. I didn't realize it was that kind of beach, luckily my kids loved throwing rocks in the water. And we took several walks and bike rides along the bay. We lucked out with great weather and every night the sunset was picture-worthy. Next door to the hotel is a great brewery, Beach Cat Cafe, that shares menus with the restaurant next to it (so restaurant has Beach Cat beers, and Beach Cat uses their food). It's a "five star dive bar" and has EXCELLENT food. I would go back to this hotel again. But hopefully there won't be a pandemic, and I might aim for a warmer time of year (early March is pretty chilly).

Wow, it sounds like you had a fun filled vacation and took advantage of all the fun things to do here and in the surrounding areas! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to be here at such a beautiful time of the year. One thing for sure you cannot beat watching the sunset from the 5th floor deck!! It is amazing and something that should be taken advantage of by everyone who comes to stay with us. Hope to see you again soon!

When I booked, I was a little uncertain of what to expect. I am go glad we gave this place a try! We had a huge 3 bedroom/ 2 bath condo. 2 rooms had king size beds, the other room had 3 twins. The kitchen was well stocked for all of our needs. We had a washer and dryer as well. Large living and dining area. Clean and had a nice balcony. We even had a view of the bay! Our favorite was the rooftop deck for bbq and dinners. The pool and clubhouse were closed due to COVID, but that didn’t detract from our fun. We would stay again!

We have stayed here a few years ago and looked forward to our visit. We were not disappointed in anything. All of the front desk and housekeeping staff were so nice, caring and helpful. One evening I went out to the hot tub by myself and the man at the front desk came running out to turn on the jets for me so I could "get the whole experience" . That was so nice. Our unit was very large and comfortable as well.

It's very unusual for to not have even 1 critique for a hotel, but we had an amazing stay. The staff was very friendly, we received daily housekeeping. The washer and dryer in the room was a big plus. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, the living room was comfortable. The best part was the balcony. We sat out every morning eating our breakfast and looking at the bay. Even the concierge didn't give us a hassle about not attending their meetings. We plan to come back again, as we really loved the area.

we traveled with our parents to Northern Washington to take in the Pacific Northwest. the staff at the resort was extremely courteous, friendly and helpful. this proved an excellent location to travel to see North Cascades, Vancouver and Victoria. Rooms are spacious and beds comfy. We grilled dinner a couple of nights from the rooftop which has an outstanding sunset view.

Nice staff, but this is a basic summer vacation rental. We had a 2 bedroom condo that was roomy, but had NO air conditioning. The TVs were way too small, and the paper products were substandard. Definitely not a luxury getaway, but probably a decent deal for a family with kids. Our unit faced the pool, and it was noisy because you had to keep the windows open for a breeze. They did enforce the pool closure every night at 10pm. Also, it's a small thing, but the parking lot needs to be paved. No way to roll your luggage to and from the car when all the good spots are taken. And the gravel destroys high heeled sandals!

We stayed here as a part of WorldMark We had three rooms. We had a one bedroom with views to the mountains, a two bedroom with an oceanside view, and a two bedroom up on the roof which was amazing. All three units were very large and comfortable. The rooftop room was huge and had views of the bay and out to the mountains. The main bathroom had a large jaccuzi tub and a large shower. There was a large deck area with lots of seating and views of the bay. We could watch the sunset and see whales in the bay. We also saw a bald eagle and a golden eagle in a snag right in front of the resort. If you can get one of the three roof top rooms I would strongly encourge you to do so. This was one of the best rooms I ever had with Worldmark and we plan to go back. The views are just amazing. The only problem with the units on the north side of the resort is that there is a bar next door and they will be playing music and you will hear it particularly if you are outside or have the windows open We generally enjoyed it but if you don't want to hear it get a room on the south side of the resort. The staff was uniformly fantastic. They were very efficient at check in and always helpful and friendly. The answered all our questions about places to go and things to do and always said hi and asked how things were going. Other resorts should send their staff here to see how things should be done. The bottom line is we will definitely be back with the family in tow.
