I joined the intermediate coaching week at Drop In and it could not have been better! From start to finish, everything was very well organized and the focus is 100% on making you a better surfer. Everything is kept very small and intimate and there is a great social vibe amongst the guests as well as all the staff - Solli (the owner) looks after everyone and will make sure you have a great time! The camp itself is gorgeously set on a hill with beautiful bungalows and a great main house where everyone gathers. I'll sure be staying at Drop In (whether doing the coaching or just B&B) whenever I'm back in Lombok. Thanks Solli, Tyler, Bahar, Adi, Zul, Ing, Kendall and all the others!

Life changing experience!!! Big love for this place! The nicest accommodation in Lombok with so much love for detail and perfection in the standard! We then also decided to do the camp and never in my life would I thought I would be able to surf the way I do now! Solli and the team are true rockstars and I recommend to every intermediate surfer to do at least 1 week at the camp!!! Thank you!!!

I went for a week's advanced surf coaching in October '22 . I wish I'd done it years ago! The level of coaching was excellent with one to one feedback and endless enthusiasm from the head coach and local surf guides. The focus is really on the surfing and it was fantastic to spend a week with a group of 5 other likeminded people.
The accommodation is wonderful, the food is great and the people are amazing. I'll be back for sure. Thanks guys:)

This is now my second time at the Drop In and I can highly recommend it to anyone that wants to learn or improve his surfing. I did both here.

Not only the surf sessions (most time twice a day) also the theory lessons and most of all the photo reviews helped me a lot in understanding and improving my surfing.

The coaches are awesome and explain everything I wanted to know, more than once =). There English is excellent. One of my camp mates once said “these are actually the first surf coaches that let you get more waves then they surf by themselves.” There all about giving you as much waves as you can. And their knowledge in reading the waves is impressive.

The accommodation as well is lovley, just look at the pictures, its great to chill here after the surf. And the staff takes care of you(loved the breakfast). Make sure to try the Banana bread.

This Camp is not for you if:
You don’t like dogs.
You plan on doing a lot of activities after surfing. Because after two sessions a day, you’re done =)

Following the dreaded covid I booked on my first surf trip abroad after 3 years of no travel. I’d been surfing (or trying to surf) crappy English beach breaks, lost fitness and started to lose my love of surfing. Booked into Drop In after seeing them pop up on my social media over the pandemic.
The best decision I made!!

The surf coaching was phenomenal. For someone who’s started surfing in her 30s, certain things in surfing don’t come intuitively to me. Scott has developed a method of really connecting mind & body to help you understand and hopefully implement the body mechanics of surfing. Scotts coaching method is supportive, motivational and leaves you confident and excited to go out and at least try and smash it every day. The stoke in the water with the awesome team of local surfers (Adi, Bahar, Zul) was incredible, their passion for the surf was almost as if they had surfed every wave with you. I wouldn’t have had the waves I did without the encouragement of these guys in the water. The week is intense, but it will leave you frothing for more and pumped for your next surf wherever it may be!

The location and the lodge is stunning. Beautiful lodge curated by Solli, with no detail missed. You literally just need to rock up ready to surf. A home away from home type feel, and a perfect place to chill out after hours in the sea. Food was delicious (and so much!!), nothing was too much to ask for.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. Thanks guys for an awesome stay and see you again soon..!

Due to the Corona crises I unfortunately stayed only two days at the camp, but in this two days I had the best surfing day of my life! I had the best theory lessons EVER and an amazing surf session afterwards. The location is so beautiful, the whole team is super nice and all processes are uncomplicated. I ABSOLUTELY will come back, highly recommended!

I spent a week at Drop In as a total beginner and it was great! The camp and the course are set up with a lot of attention to detail. The dorms are cozy and clean, the food is very good and the communal chill out area around the pool is so comfy that napping people can be found anywhere. The surf sessions are accompanied by very detailed theory lessons and the timing depends on the waves, so we had a lot of (hard but worth it) early morning sessions. As a beginner, I appreciated the inclusion of theory on surf knowledge beyond the how-to-get-up and the practice of safety maneuvers. All coaches that I had contact with were absolutely great and masters of their sport. In the water, they made sure to always look after everyone (around two students per coach) and to give easy-to-implement instructions. Owner Solli and the team around the lodge are also very sweet and helped with everything from white-water-fears to doctor recommendation.
A lot of other surfers in my week there were very experienced and they enjoyed the camp just as much as I did (there are two groups based on skill) and everyone was very supportive of everyone else - even of me surf noob. I had a great time and would recommend the camp to anyone - book two weeks rather than one, you’ll want to stay and it will be fully booked!

Other tips: don’t arrive straight from your home country, Jetlag kills your vibe for the first two days of surfing. Rent the scooter they offer; Kuta is 10 mins away and there is no food at the camp in the evening. Also, the wifi sucks so get an Indonesian Data SIM card for cheap in town. For beginners, bring the following: long arm/leg rash guard, zinc sun block, reef boots and a truly waterproof bag. Oh and all the first aid things you could possibly need for cuts and against ear infections.

There are some places that you find through google searches and there are some that you hear about from friends. When a friend of mine told me while I was in Indonesia I had to go to Kuta (Lombok) and had to stay at Drop In, it grabbed my attention. My friend had stayed there three days, and claimed it was the best surf hostel she had ever stayed at. The next day I was booking flights from Bali to Lombok.

Like many people I had originally planned to stay for a week and look to find a surf guide to show me the local surf spots. Within two days I had joined the camp's surf course and had extend my stay for another two weeks.

If you are a beginner surfer or a surfer looking to improve their technique I can’t recommend enough the instructors and the courses that are run by the team at Drop In. Doyo, Johnson and Rin are all amazing teachers and people, each with their own style. The mix between theory, in-water coaching and in-depth photo reviews is the best I’ve experienced. Their ability to breakdown specific areas to focus your attention and give you helpful advice and techniques to improve made my surfing ability increase massively. Even if I may not always look as amazing on the wave as I feel, I know what I need to improve and always remember the best surfer out on the water is the one having the most fun. I did the basic surf camp but am going to try and time my next trip for when they are doing one of their specialised camps.

If you’re not surfing, the camp and surrounding area is great to relax and explore. The locals say Lombok is like Bali 20 years ago. Think crowd less beaches, though not always crowd less surf breaks, and the chance to discover more off the beaten track. I would recommend hiring a scooter so you can ride out to Seger beach or one of the many other outlooks for sunset. We would head into Kuta for dinner most nights, unless we had a camp dinner or the boys organised a lobster night. Kuta is a town that has quickly grown in the last two years, and has just about everything you need but still has a small town feel. Gerupuk village, a local fishing village, is about 15 mins drive from the camp and is where we often caught a boat to the local surf spots. There is a good local place for Nasi Campur and a cute bakery that does the best oat biscuits and chocolate brownies.

On non-surfing days, Ing and Solli were great at recommending activities. We went snorkelling at the secret Gillis, adventured with the scooter to the many beautiful beaches and then organised a couple of days to hike to the crater of Mt Rinjani.

The team at Drop In and the other guests at the camp truely made me feel at home. You can tell that they think about the small details, like providing repellent and a sarong for the beach. I can’t thank everyone enough for making my time in Lombok so incredible.

The room we stayed is the new one, its huge and has a really unique style / design. Attention to the little for all the inside - out furnitures, the room remind me of flinston's kinda room and it is in a good way. It has an outdoor shower room which perfectly match with the bungalow concept, it just amazing. The terrace is another thumbs up, it just minus hammock like the other room has but its completly fine. The pool is small but deep enough and its really zen, there are gazebos and lounge chairs around which is make this place a heaven, its quite and its just again amazing. The staff was great, we met the 2 owners who were really friendly and nice. Location wise its nearby tanjung Aam and some other beautiful beaches and only 5 mnts motorbike ride to kuta center, the hotel provides bike rent which u can pre arrange and its only around usd a day. to end up this i must say they have the best chocolate brownie which we were dying for and end up ordered 5 boxes of these amazing cake to share with our colleagues in home and yes they all like them!! Thanks Mirjam and team for your hospitality! Will surely stay again for our next trip to lombok and we highly recomend this place!

We spent 4 days at the Drop In Café and Bungalows and loved every minute of it. The spotless and tastefully designed bungalows around the small garden really stand out, even with the many pretty places that seem to pop up every day around Kuta. Also it's a cakelover's dream come true to live inside the best Café in town, of course, and the short 10 minutes scooter-drive from "downtown" Kuta to Drop In seems to take you miles away from any noise or stress you might feel aroubd the touristyer streets. The German and Swiss owners as well as the local staff are all friendly and extremely helpful when it comes to finding your ways around Lombok, meeting the best surfing teachers, taking walk in Yoga classes in the neighbourhood or booking an Indonesian cooking class. In high season it's absolutely necessary to book in advance. Go there! We will be back asap.
