My wife and I booked a room here for this coming November only to receive an email last week saying they could no longer honour the booking, with no explanation as to why. I emailed 5 days ago asking for a reason and have not received a reply so if you want a hotel with this fantastic and classy service,... More

Thank you very much for your comments. Unfortunately your email came from one of our Booking Agents and not ourselves. The Cross Lanes sadly is closing for business on the 18th July 2016. We are very sorry that you have been inconvenienced. More

We recently stayed one night here whilst in the area and really enjoyed our stay. The building is a lovely old country house set in beautiful gardens. Our room was a good size, a king size, comfy bed, very clean with quite modern decor but still inkeeping with the old building. We had a modern bathroom with bath and shower.... More

Lovely location this place, we went there for dinner with a gourmet card. There was a wedding reception didn’t notice though, no noise and plenty of parking available. Restaurant was clean if dated and the waiter was super. Most attentive and friendly without you noticing him. Drinks were quick and the menu nicely varied. We all chose different starters. I... I wasted 40 minutes of my life booking this hotel and another 30 minutes trying to locate it after being given the wrong postcode at the time of booking. When I finally arrived despite having a booking reference etc the hotel was fully booked. The only room available was a member of staff's room above the kitchen which the manager... More

I stayed in this hotel last night. The hotel is tired and in urgent need of decorating. I was in room 18 which is towards the back of the hotel. My room looked like it hadn't been decorated since the 1970's. The WiFi didn't work, the light in the bathroom didn't work, and the shower didn't work. The sink in... More

I have just got back from going here last night after my fiancee booked me a birthday weekend away. This is a really charming hotel and the staff are all really friendly and helpful, food was very scrummy. Our room was great, clean and a fab view too. I'd have given them 5* but after being kept awake till 12:30+... More

Yesterday we attended the Dee valley ale trail. After leaving Y Saith Seren in Wrexham, our bus took us to our first port of call - The Cross Lanes hotel. Lovely welcome, at a beautiful place. Roaring fires and comfy sofas abound. Shame the weather stopped us looking around the grounds, as they looked lovely, through the rain streaked window... More

Went as party of 4 for birthday meal. All had prawn cocktail starter, all made the same comment, absolutely no taste of the prawns. 2 had salmon, 1 had carvery, 1 had chicken supreme. The salmon was supposed to have hollandaise sauce but tasted like mustard sauce. the carvery meat was fatty and rubbery, the vegetables had been out too... More

We're so sorry to hear that your time with us was not to your satisfaction, in all the years we've been doing carvery it's the first time we've had a complaint about the standard of the food. Visited last night with family for a birthday meal, food was fantastic ! We all loved it even my 2 year old grandson, who is normally very picky, the chef made him some macaroni cheese and he ate the lot ! Happy days, also thanks to the barman and waiter were nothing was too much trouble, Excellent !
