Another absolutely wonderful family stay at this beautiful modern hotel. The hotel is beautiful from the moment you walk in. The rooms are very large and spacious with double doubles available which we needed. TV’s were huge and WiFi was fast. USB changing points near beds is a godsend these days. Breakfast was beautiful and all staff were very friendly in the restaurant. Especially the men serving us breakfast and evening drinks to our table. Fully Covid secure, one way systems and lots of hand gel. Parking is an extra £6 a day which is a shame as there’s no need for it when the hotel is empty and no one is parking nearby. The only downside is having to walk downstairs to collect your room service. Still not sure why they can’t leave it outside your door and maintain a safe distance. The hotel was like a ghost shop which is such a shame. But we will be back to Leicester and we will always look to stay here.

Dear TOGETHER_WE_TRAVEL35, Thank you for taking the time to give us your valuable feedback and sharing your experience with the Leicester Marriott Hotel. I am pleased to read your comments about the overall hotel experience. Our team take great pride in providing exceptional service and your feedback and compliments will encourage our team to continuously focus on exceeding customer expectation. Apologies about the car parking fee, unfortunately it is chargeable for our guests unless included in the room rate. We had to implement new procedures for room service due to the current circumstances, and I understand they may not be the most practical, but hopefully we can come back to some sort of normality soon. Please be assured that your feedback has been shared with the respective Department Managers. I sincerely hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel and regain your confidence in the future. Kind regards

Marriott Leicester was truly a great experience. The staff were excellent, the customer service was brilliant and the Marriott Bonvoy app was amazing and convenient. At first, we had a problem with our room; the shower wasn’t turning hot and the smart TVs ‘smart features’ weren’t quite working well. Using the Marriott Bonvoy app, we called the reception (Yes, there was no need for using annoying hotel room telephones!) and told them about everything hoping that they would fix it or at the very least would know about it. To be honest, we called the reception twice but the call wouldn’t go through because they were busy. I completely understand how they their burden as staff would have increased significantly due to the current situation. Nevertheless, the third time we called, they picked up and said that someone will come to your room in the next 10 minutes. It was 8:45 in the night, and we expected an engineer and a Plummer to come and fix the problems; we were kind of annoyed. But it wasn’t an engineer or a Plummer, it was a Marriott staff member called Adam. He was really good and instead of fixing it, he offered us ANOTHER ROOM to make up for the trouble caused. This was great and completely unexpected. This just shows how great the customer service is at Marriott. While moving to our ‘new’ room, we got locked out; how clumsy! At first, we thought that if we go down to reception and ask for another key and explain everything that happened, the would be annoyed and we didn’t want to bother them. After a while, we decided to go downstairs to reception and ask them for the key since we had to do something. Thanks to two receptionists, Suzanne and Adam, we didn’t have to explain anything about how we switched rooms; it was all on the system. This shows how unified and organised the Marriott system is. This brings me onto the next great thing: The Marriott Bonvoy app. *Note that is is only available if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member. This app was absolutely amazing; traditionally, if you wanted to order for example a set of toothbrushes in a hotel, you’d have to go to reception or call them up. But with the app, all you have to do is press a button, specify the quantity and click order. It would be at your room in under 15 minutes. Note that all of this is free if you’re a Bonvoy Member. Using the app, you can also use your phone as a key for your room and do so much more. Pretty cool isn’t it? Last but not least, the breakfast at the Market Kitchen was really good and fresh - especially the croissants. Along with the positives, there is also room for improvement as with anything. The TV was really slow and faulty at times and the we had some problems with the hot water. Other than that, Marriott is a great experience. I would truly recommend going to this hotel compared to others, yes it’s a bit more pricy but it is worth it.

We stayed here at the weekend for 2 nights, on a ‘Stay, Play, Explore Leicestershire’ deal. It was great value. This is an impressive modern hotel, which was easy to get to being close to motorway links. The hotel was fairly quiet whilst we stayed there, perhaps because it is a business style hotel, with rooms for conferences and the like, and with the current circumstances this sort of trade is not happening. Our room was on the 4th floor and was spacious, and very clean and smart. It had all the amenities you would expect. The whole hotel felt very ‘Covid secure’ and we felt safe during our stay. Breakfast on both mornings was excellent- the cooked breakfast was cooked to order and of good quality (well done chef), and the continental option also looked appetising. Service was attentive and friendly. We did have dinner on the Saturday night in the hotel, and the menu was a tad disappointing, lacking in choice. Also the kids menu wasn’t clear...These minor points can we think be easily put right. However overall we had a great stay, and the hotel put balloons and stuff in our room because we had told them that it was our sons 3rd birthday, and he was made up with that, such a nice personal touch (thank you again). We hope to visit this hotel again in the future.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Marriott, we were their again for the British Polio Fellowship national indoor games. Last year, despite being an organised weekend and having pre - ordered all the meals I was made I'll because I was given gluten despite informing them of my requirements. I won't go into details again, you can read my previous review. I don't know if there has been a change in management but there has been a significant change in relation to alaergies. In the market kitchen Resturant and during the coffee and tea breaks all the food choices were labelled with the allergens present in the item or dish. However the significant improvements could be taken to the next level with a little thought and training (see later in the review) Room The room we stayed in was large and generally comfortable, the bed was large and firm, the room was overlooked the atrium and was continually warm, the heating / air con was controllable in the room however we couldn't cool the room enough at times. The bathroom was a high standard. There was no walk in shower but there was a powerful shower over the bath, there was a a grab rail on the wall over the bath that helped me getting into the bath for a shower despite my mobility issues. It would be beneficial if there was a grab rail on the by the bath to help me get out, I had to use the towel rail to steady myself when getting out. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work. Food The standard of the food for the weekend was very good with gluten free options available at times however it required a lot of checking myself with waiters and waitresses during the evening meals to ensure I was given the gluten free dish. There may well have been a senior member of staff directing the waiters / waitresses but it's no good shouting to them constantly that I was the gluten free gentlemen and not ensuring that I was being given the correct dish. I don't know whether it was a language issue or they just ignored her because she was annoying me let alone them. Despite her directions at one point I was left for 20 minutes waiting for my starter while the rest of the table had eaten theirs. The breakfast was a serve yourself buffet with gluten free bread in packets, however the James were all open jars that could easily be cross contaminated. The sausages were not gluten free, which really frustrates me as gluten free sausages are so readily available. Staff The staff were extremely helpful and if they didn't know the answer to my question they went to find out. I particularly like to recognise the work of Rubén at breakfast in the market kitchen Resturant who was extremely helpful not only to me, but also other polio felloswhip members in wheelchairs by helping them when serving themselves with hot food and carrying things to their table. He was extremely apologetic to me when I had to wait for my gluten free bread to be toasted as the chef was too busy. It was evadent through out the weekend that there was a need for more staff particularly in the kitchen at breakfast and the bar in the grove room in the evening. The management new there were a lot of people there all weekend and should have catere for them.

Dear David W, Thank you for choosing to stay at the Leicester Marriott Hotel and providing your honest feedback. My name is Barinder Singh and I am the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at the hotel. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. We work hard to ensure all the allergies are catered for without delay, but at this occasion more delegates requested for Gluten free meal options on the day than arranged for the dinner. We had only 2 orders for gluten free and we served 6 on the day as the requests came up last minute. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused. Also for future we will ensure we order some gluten free sausages for your event in advance to ensure they are readily available on the day. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the appropriate hotel team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place to prevent similar accommodation, food and service issues from occurring in the future. Also I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind words for Ruben and the service team. I will definitely share your feedback with Ruben and team. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for your next visit and I will be more than happy to ensure you are well taken care of in terms of all your requests. Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and we hope to serve you again whenever your travels bring you back to Leicester. Sincerely, BARINDER SINGH ASSISTANT FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER LEICESTER MARRIOTT barinder.singh@marriott.com 0116 2820100
