We came here on a discounted two day deal, not really knowing what to expect other than what we saw in the 'blurb' and it looked very nice indeed. We were not disappointed. From the moment we parked outside the entrance and a nice chap came down to help with our luggage, we received five star treatment. And what a place! It was a bit like staying at Downton Abbey without having to cowtow to Lord Grantham! Beautiful public rooms and our bedroom was lovely too. There were very few guests owing to the current Covid19 issues which, it has to be said, made it all the more pleasurable because we received almost individual attention from staff who really didn't have too much to do! We swam twice in their 30 metre pool which was warmed to almost bath temperature, followed by a lovely wallow in the jacuzzi, followed by the steam room and then the sauna. It was gorgeous. We dined in the bar room which was cosy and most attractive and, although not cheap, was quite sufficient to our needs. Breakfast, which was included in the price of our room, was sumptuous and plentiful. Wifi in the room was excellent and the TV at the end of our massive great bed was a very adequate size. We didn't have time to check out the gym or spa treatments but they were there if one wanted them. The staff were delightful and very attentive. The only adverse comment I would make is that, being an old stately home, the plumbing left a little to be desired, in terms of taps working well and baths draining slowly but these minor issues did little to spoil our pleasure.

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch to celebrate a family birthday at this traditional English country house hotel. The house and grounds are spectacular and the food and service were great. Will definitely return.

Lucky to have stayed here before and the view of the lake and fields over the ha ha is so calming, the grounds are immense and the steam train worth going too, when they are running, it's different to the hotel but runs in the grounds, we had a great room Zofany, has to be seeen to be believed, with a vast bathroom and seating for two for a good read and a glass of wine, the spa is too compact and a bit chilly, they sorted a refund quite well for the short notice cancellation of the beautician and the men had a free electronic driving range day as course was closed too.

If I could give this place a minus rating I would. I booked a romantic getaway with my partner for Valentine's Day and instead had the worst hotel experience of my life. A wedding party had been booked at the same time as our stay which the hotel and staff had no control over. Due to where our room was situated, we had to endure hours of fighting, shouting and arguments till 2am. At one point, after I had called the police, we heard a commotion outside our door and a man threatening to kill someone else. The reception and staff made no effort to check on our wellbeing, no one informed us the police had already been called before I was forced to and after requesting my money back for the awful experience, the hotel have decided to ignore my email. I cannot stress enough - DO NOT STAY HERE!

I came at the weekend for a special Doggy Afternoon Tea and it was perfect! Wonderful setting and the attention to detail from the organisers was great! The afternoon tea for both humans and four legged companions was delicious and quiet literally wolfed down! The staff as always were super! Keeping humans and dogs happy plus managing to balance & serve everything around the dogs, toys and leads! Would highly recommend here and I certainly can’t wait for the next one!!
