My husband and I came to Ireland in May for a 10 day extended whirlwind trip. This was the fourth place we stayed on our driving tour of southern Ireland. GOOD LORD THE VIEW!! As we drove up to the building, it really didn't seem like much, we'd booked through a company that assured us we would be staying at...

This was one of our favorite places we stayed in Ireland. It is a little bit of a splurge, but so worth it. The grounds are gorgeous! There is a castle built in the 1100s right next door, and the owner gives guided tours to the guests upon request. The views are spectacular. We called last-minute and they were not...

This hotel is lovely. Set in an old house, with an extension, it's homely but stately at the same time. Next to the castle ruins, it looks out over the cliffs, which even in the poor weather are stunning. Surrounded by greenery, this location is beautiful. If you're in or near Doolin this is the place to stay without a...

OK, you do NOT actually stay in the castle adjoining this country house hotel. But you DO get a guided tour at dusk from your host to check out the somewhat dilapidated remains of the former home of two of Ireland's prominent clans. They might have been rich but they sure lived rough!! Not so the family owned country house...

This Country House is steeped in history and is luxuriously comfortable. After a lengthy travel, tired and in need of home comforts Ballinalacken was the perfect home from home. Greeted by friendly staff everything was set to be well beyond our expectations. We were offered a tour of the Castle and when we reported for the tour were the only...

Bedroom was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice, with local fare and nice music. Views of the ocean are beautiful. Place was almost empty when we visited in the off-season. Bathroom was a bit tight, and there is no a/c, but bed was super comfortable.

Stayed two nights at this beautiful inn deep in the countryside. The accommodations are great, the food is great, the staff is more than friendly and if you are lucky, the owner will take you on a tour of the 15th century castle which he owns. This was our last stop in Ireland before heading home and it topped off...

Forget the stylish Celtic Tiger hotels that are ubiquitous in Ireland: Ballinalacken is from a different era where the owner meets you on arrival, shows you to your room, serves your drinks and greets you in the dining room and all without any great fuss. The location is great being close to Doolin, the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher....

We've been torn between ranking this a high four or low five-star property; we are on the fence, but overall, it's a terrific place, unusual with its very own centuries-old castle that only hotel guests can visit. It's in a lovely setting, with colorful plants and bushes and, weather permitting, sights of the Cliffs of Moher from the front of...

Location: 5 min drive from Doolin. 10-15 min drive to the Cliffs. Need a car. Free parking. Facilities: Former dining room with good food at fair prices. Nice breakfast in same location in the AM. The site is of an old castle and a country house built in the 1800's. Room was beautiful with distant view to the Cliffs of...
