Husband arrived this evening to be told the restaurant and bar were not open, due to the owner closing down the business in the near future, very disappointing after reading previous reviews and the description of the hotel, this is not a bad review but just to inform people not to book as all the facilities are no longer available.

Bubba (Blue-Fronted Amazon parrot) had a Friday out at "The Pelican Inn" in Tacolneston, Norfolk. Best bit was the cheesy chips although mum and dad eat most of them. The fab barmaids were really friendly and jolly. The "Pelican Inn" was built in the 1500's and has loads of original character. Well worth visiting this warm and friendly pub and... More

Dog friendly, great meadow / field out back, decked garden area, generous portions, lovely food, very friendly staff. Very cosy inside. No kids menu but staff happy to split adult option onto two plates. A great find.

We visited on a Saturday evening after trying a couple of other pubs and not managing to get a meal either because we hadn't booked or they weren't serving food. The staff at the Pelican were so welcoming and made us all feel at home. The food was amazing - best meal out we have had for a while, would... More

My fiancée and I recently stayed in this lovely pub/ B&B for the valentines weekend. We stayed in the kingsize ensuite room. We had no particular reason for booking this place just wanted somewhere not to expensive and reasonably close to Norwich but not to close. This place turned out to be an excellent choice. We were made to feel... More

Nice pub, plenty of charm as you walk in, but room I stayed in wasn't a £70 a night standard at all, small and pokey with dated features and a bed that had seen better days, poor quality bed linen, clearly old and tatty and dated blankets (surely a quality quilt is the norm???) and pillows like teabags, not good.... I booked The Pelican Inn because it was convenient as we were in the area but mainly because the restaurant was voted one of the top 50 best pubs in the UK a couple of years ago On the plus side, our room was lovely, nice furniture, very spacious although the husband kept banging his head on the low beams....
