The Samata is a truly amazing place to stay! We are a family of 4 with two young girls aged 9 & 6 and we all loved our stay!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa but it was more like 2 villas in a single gated compound, we couldn't believe the size of it! Two self contained villas, a private pool, an outdoor kitchen and multiple outdoor seating areas! The pictures do not do it justice!

As well as the private pool there are also 3 other pools, an excellent gym, pool table, table tennis, tennis, basketball and darts.

During our stay our girls took park in a private childrens cooking lesson which they thoroughly enjoyed and the head chef as well as his two apprentices were excellent and took great care of the children.

We also had the private BBQ which was also excellent.

All of the staff were amazing and took great pride in their work and made us feel a part of the Samata Family during our stay. The staff also spoke very highly of their manager Lisa which says a lot about the type people and relationship the management and staff have.

Thank you once again for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed there for two nights in a two bed villa. The villas are spacious and very clean with private pools. Most villas have outdoor showers / baths. It's not necessarily a downside unless you are scared of bugs.

The bedrooms'roof is made of straw which is aesthetically very pleasant but provides ample conditions for geckos to live in. We were woken up by a loud sound which continued repeating every 15 minutes. I first thought it was a broken fire alarm but later learned it was some kind of a gecko.

There is an inhouse kitchen providing a limited menu. I think it's a big plus because most villas are self catering. By the way all villas have well equipped kitchens.

The resort offers drop off facilities to Sanur town (15 minute drive).

If you prefer villas, this is certainly a very good option for Sanur

Dear 18ammarh, Your comments are gratefully received, and I look forward to sharing them with our team. It's a pleasure to hear from you and know that you experienced great stay despite the gecko experience, which as part as be closer with nature it means is not only beautiful flora but of course also attract on the fauna side as well, although routine pest control are held on daily basis. We appreciate your compliments and are especially pleased that you enjoyed our relaxing ambiance. We look forward to your return again very soon. My husband, myself and my 7 year old daughters had the pleasure of staying at The Samata in March 2020 in one of the two bedroom villas. Upon arriving, all we could say was - wow!! Everything was amazing! From the well equipped gym, to the beautiful swimming pools and the open air lobby. And that was all before we got to our room!

Our 2 bedroom villa surpassed our expectations. Although the villas looked amazing in the photos, l was concerned about how true to life they would be. Trust me, the photos do not Ado the villas justice. Absolutely luxury! My daughters though they were princesses, having their own princess bed and a massive swimming pool all to themselves.

The pool was by far a the most impressive feature, it was as big as any hotel swimming pool and more importantly, it was just for us! Next time we come to Bali we have all intentions of staying in the same villa, so l don’t want to give away our secret of which one it was!

Rooms are spacious and well equipped. A highlight was the outdoor bath and showers - just beautiful! More than enough room for a family of 4. Although l did not realise that the two bedroom were not connected, you actually have to go outside (which was bit of a pain when it was raining) to get to the other bedroom. I am wondering if it is possible to have a covered walkway between the bedrooms, as having to go out at night when it was raining was not fun!
.
We all have intentions of coming back to The Samata on our next visit to Bali. It is worth every cent to stay here in the lap of luxury.
Thankyou to all staff and stay safe during this difficult time.

Customer service and staff was really helpful! From the moment we checked in to attending to our request, staff was really prompt reply and attentive. I would give 10/10 for customer service. From outside, all looks really nice , etc landscape and the design of the house etc, impressive !

However, room and facilités need to be more well maintain. For room, we are really pleased that hotel provide free upgrade and the house keeping was ok. However, The room is very old as we can see signs of run down and paint is piling off , room tiles and private jacuzzi looks old with tiles seemed to be stained badly. For the trash bin, we found thick cobwebs. Housekeeping need to be more thorough

For the private pool, there is many leaf inside the swimming pool. For sharing pool, we found quite a lot of dead insect (etc millipede) inside the pool. pool may require some serious cleaning up.

We stayed for 4 night in this paradise during our honeymoon. It was the end of our trip in Bali and the best part of it. The first thing is that the staff was awesome. When we arrived they directly explained to us that a wedding was happening during our stay and offered to upgrade us to a villa in the quiest place of the property.

Secondly, the breakfast with the three course menu was amazing. The restaurant is also very nice with really good dishes.

Thirdly, we strongly advice the private barbecue. We had a chef and a waiter just for us and they prepared one of the best barbecues of our lives with seafood, local specialties, meat, vegetables...everything you can imagine.

Finally, the amenities were incredible. The room was spacious, clean, modern. The outside bathroom was perfect. And the huge private pool with cocktails brought to you was very relaxing. The spa treatments were one the highest quality we had in Bali.

My husband and I were married in Bali in January and chose to stay at the Samata for our honeymoon. We had a truly unforgettable stay in the one bedroom villa. The room was stunning and we loved having our own private infinity pool and huge outdoor bath. The staff are exceptional and really went out of their way to ensure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. Their little touches like hand written notes and daily cookies were so appreciated. And the food!! It was all so fresh and delicious, we were very impressed. They make great pina coladas! We booked the romantic dinner and were blown away by how special and romantic it was- a private table on an outdoor field with candles and delicious food. The gym facilities are fantastic and the shuttle service to Sanur is free and they will take you whenever you are ready to go. We can’t wait to stay again!

The Samata is actually nowhere near the centre of Sanur, located off a multi lane highway about 15 minutes drive away. It offers beautiful accomodation in green well kept surroundings, a total of 3 swimming pools and a large but dated gym. We were upgraded to a villa which came with its own plunge pool. The room cost included breakfast. It has a western inspired restaurant and I was looking forward to enjoying all the meals there.
The breakfast is not a luxury experience, fruit juice comes from a supermarket shelf, meal sizes are for those on a restricted diet. A pot of tea comes with a tea bag. We ended up driving to Sanur every day for lunch and dinner .

In the most tranquil of settings you will be looked after by the friendliest staff. They offer beautifully cooked food in the restaurant and the best massages in the world! The resort has a very well equipped gym which I used on a daily basis. We considered doing some of the many excursions that they willingly recommend and book for you, but in the end just staying and relaxing was all we needed. The beach walk and many restaurants are very close but take’s about 20 minutes taxi, if you fancy the buzz of the seafront. It’s faster coming back when the roads are clear. They are very cheap and easy to book on your phone through the ‘Grab’ app or the staff will happily book for you. We walked out around the back streets of the village. Everyone seems very friendly, the beach isn’t far to walk. Black volcanic sand and a stiff breeze in August. We can highly recommend a stay at The Samata Retreat. Where you will arrive feeling very welcomed and leave feeling very relaxed.

A dream holiday and wonderful relaxing resort with happy, friendly staff, beautiful views across rice paddies to the nearby beach. Lovely room and delicious breakfasts. Awesome free 1hr.massage. Great gym ,plus pool table too. 3 for 2 cocktail hour was fun by the amazing pools. Our free BBQ Dinner by the pool was so romantic and delicious.A$5 taxi(15 mins) to Sanur village for excellent shopping, heaps of great restaurants and bars and an amazing beach. Local beach is quiet with great surfing waves. Go left at beach for 500m to “Beach Break cafe” for cold beers and yummy, cheap meals with an awesome view👍 It’s black volcanic sand and hot so wear sandals. Sad to see a lot of rubbish along the beach..just hope the big local school & council can show initiative and do a regular clean up. Go right and across shallow river mouth for a nice 1/2 hour stroll into Sanur village beach bars, shops and market.🤔..it’s an old, wealthy area & stately colonial Dutch /Balinese homes . Lovely stroll along local lanes .. incredible gardens and front gates. Nice selection of very interesting books on Bali/ Indonesia .. plus a small swap library. Great internet service. Thankyou to all the lovely staff at The Samata Sanur for our most relaxing Asian holiday..just perfect 🙏

The staff is very friendly and helpful, always super attentive and helping with whatever we needed.
The facilities are a luxury and the breakfast is great too. If I return to Bali it is very likely that I will repeat. The only drawback may be the location, but with how easy and cheap it is to get around it wasn't a problem.
