This place is literally one of the most gorgeous spots in the world. You are secluded on a white sand paradise with exceptional sea life, no noise, limited guests, and the most wonderful snorkel, dive, and fishing guides. And five star food. It’s absolute paradise. BUT. And this is a big but. The bugs. They are horrible. And we did our research and read other reviews of travelers saying the same thing so we even came prepared. We brought extra strength deet spray and an actual mosquito repelling device. The issue is nothing worked. And the “no see ums” are everywhere. On the beach, in the sand, in your room, at dinner. We did everything the hotel told us to do, including wearing oil and the bug sprayed and nothing worked. The 2nd night I was up all night itching and having a panic attack. This was our “babymoon” so we were beyond excited for the experience but we ended up actually cutting the trip short because we were both covered, head to toe, in bites. And me being pregnant, it just wasn’t a smart idea for me to continue to stay and get eaten alive. The resort only refunded us one of the two nights we lost, which was a bummer. We clearly would not have cut our vacation short otherwise but we had no choice! So long story short, if bugs don’t bother you, this is absolute paradise and a must visit. But if you’re sensitive, you’ll want to pick another island (because it happens at other resorts on the same island FYI)…
My wife and I went to Tiamo Resort on our belated honeymoon and we fell in love with the place! It is extremely private, which we loved, with only a few other couples there with us in early November. The villa was spacing and very comfortable. We had our own pool and the ocean was a 30 second walk from our villa. There was great snorkeling right in front of the villa. The weather was consistently around 80 degrees and was perfect. We paddleboarded a lot and loved exploring nearby beaches. One day the staff invited all of the guests on their boat to check out "The Blue Hole", a series of large holes in the ocean nearby. There was coral and many types of fish. We dove for conch shells that they used to prepare appetizers for lunch and dinner. We were a little worried about traveling there since we hadn't done a trip like this on our own, but it was a painless process to fly into Congo Town (we used one of their recommended airlines from Fort Lauderdale) and reach the resort. A driver picked us up and took us to a boat that brought us to the resort. The staff were incredible! Victor was extremely professional and made sure we had everything we wanted. Antoine is an incredible chef and we loved every dish he served. He would come out each night to ask how our days were and to see how we liked dinner. Both were very nice and fun to be around. We would have breakfast out in front of the restaurant, lunch on a deck near the pool, and dinner inside the restaurant. They had a great selection of rums for us to try. There was a small hurricane while we were there, but it wasn't a big deal at all. It barely rained and the wind wasn't too strong. The power did go out for a little bit, but they have a generator so it was no issue. The resort is very isolated, so definitely bring what you need. That being said, they could accommodate most needs we had. All in all it was an amazing trip. I highly recommend. Thank you to everyone at Tiamo!…
This was our 5th trip to Tiamo and won’t be our last! We were there November 2022 and found the resort to be virtually unchanged to our great relief. Fred, manager, was very attentive, always checking with us to be sure all was well. Victor retired as assistant manager and was a delight as before. He is welcoming, friendly yet efficient, attentive and very French! He anticipated our every need….excellent service. Antoine returned as the chef and the food maintained the excellence we have come to expect. The soups were excellent and innovative. The fish and other seafood were also excellent….truly fine dining at the small gem of a resort. We also give kudos to Ronnie, Renauldo, Tomas and Eddie, all of who e worked Harte make our stay perfect in every way. We will return November 2023 and then plan to come twice a year thereafter…..what else need we say?…
Tiamo is perfect for anyone looking for rest & relaxation in the most beautiful beach setting. The food is amazing and staff are so friendly. Victor, Fred, Antione, Ronnie, Winston and the whole Tiamo team were so welcoming and attentive while giving us the space to enjoy the resort at our leisure. The food was fresh & so creative. Highly recommend the guided bone fishing and the croissants!
I went there for 3 days with my 2 children. The staff was wonderful and the food was great. However, when it came time to leave, I tested positive for Covid, but my children did not. I wanted to get my children home to the US asap in case they became positive and needed medical attention. The manager, Fred, offered to fly with my children from the island to Nassau and ensure that they got on the plane in Nassau so that my husband could pick them up in the US. Unbelievable!!! Thank god for him, because 2 days later my son had covid and was very sick, but had the medicine and doctors he needed! Then, I was the only guest at the resort for the next 5 days. They brought me all my meals and made sure everything was OK for me. The service was beyond was what necessary and exceeded any expectations. The only reason I don’t give it a 5 star was because of the incredible amount of bugs. But, Fred and Victor, are the best!!!!…
We felt so cared for by our Tiamo friends. Wilfred met us at the taxi early one morning and took us in to Tiamo by boat. There he sat us for breakfast and then showed us around. He made sure we were comfortable at every turn. We both feel lucky to have known this piece of Tiamo and Wilfred. Victor and Chef and Fred, and the others were steady, skillful and professional and kind and warm. Chef knocked the food out of the park! Victor stepped up with perfect piña Coladas and calming leadership. Fred was our captain and took us out three times, the final was returning us to the taxi just after 6 one morning. Victor came to the dock to send us off. Top quality staff including all of the others showing up for housekeeping and anything else needed. I hope to return. Lots of Love to all at Tiamo.…
If you are looking for a secluded resort that has a relaxing atmosphere, charming beachside cottages some with private pools, fantastic cooked-to-order food, beautiful beaches, incredible sunsets, star-filled night skies, and a staff that it is committed to making sure your stay is perfect in every way, then Tiamo is the place for you. If you want a large, impersonal resort with kids, buffets, and nightlife, then Tiamo is probably not the place for you. We loved everything about our visit. Tiamo is such a special place.
As you all well know the last couple of years have been tough. My partner and I love to travel so having had our wings clipped by this pandemic and the isolation has really worn us down. By the end of 2021 all I wanted for Christmas was a vacation, someplace lovely where we would be well cared for and safe. Tiamo is all that and more! Located on South Andros Island we were far from the crowd as you had to hop a short flight from the main airport in Nassau to Andros, where we were met by a driver who took us to be picked up by boat to the resort... all seamlessly arranged by Wilfred for a small fee. Once there we were shown to our well appointed private villa that had its own private pool and beachfront. We enjoyed scrumptious Michelin star meals by the lodge pool, and at sunset dinners were exceptionally beautiful! The comfort and intimacy of the atmosphere made for a pleasant time chatting with the few other guests we encountered. Wilfred and Victor are the most attentive and gracious hosts along with their staff who seemed to anticipate our every need. While we chose to simply do a little snorkeling and relax under the skillful hands of Darcel our masseuse, there are many other activities available with kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards available at no cost and at any time you wanted one. Wilfred will happily arrange for fishing and dive guides as well. Folks looking for a place to really get away from it all will find that Tiamo is a real gem! I cannot recommend this place highly enough!…
Our trip to Tiamo as a couple was fantastic. We took this trip before our third baby. Tiamo is a very peaceful place. The food was delightful. The quiet vibe was just what we needed. This is a trip to take if you specifically want to take it easy and be very low key, there’s not a whole lot to do other than hang out on the beach, enjoy the food, and rest! A special shout out to Victor who made our experience even better. His friendliness and hospitality is wonderful! He always made us feel welcome and taken care of. He paid special attention to detail and remembered our preferences. Thank you Victor!! Christian and Taylor
My wife and I booked a trip at Tiamo thru Orvis after discussing what we were looking for. I wouldn't say it isn't a fishing only resort option but they said it has plenty of other nice things to do. When we arrived we were amazed at how nice the resort is. The villas are just perfect. We had our own private little pool. You walk out right onto the beach and water. There is plenty of privacy between each Villa. It accommodates a smaller quantity of people so we had maybe 8 other couples total while we were there. It's right on South Bight which is just absolute Turqoise water. The food at the restaurant is next level, Michelin rated level food breakfast, lunch and dinner. The guide we had, Elvis was really a great guide. Bonefishing was tough with high winds but I still managed to catch 6 overall for my first time flyfishing for a salt water fish. Snorkeling was spectacular. Walking the beach, photography, birding, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, snorkeling all just walking out of our villa. No other resorts near by so very private. The staff is so great, we already miss Victor, Wilfred and the Captain. It was extremely covid safe. We went Mid December and the weather was great the entire trip, not too hot but not too cool. Water temps were very nice. We would both go back again.…
