We had an awesome three days' stay at the Putagrande Hotel. Its remote location adds magic to the the raw, rural beauty of El Hierro. Its located on a small rocky promontory into breaking Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is owned and the service personally managed by Paula, who is really nice. We would love to come back again.

Location is genuinely unique, on a pier with crashing Atlantic breakers on both sides (don’t expect a quiet night!). The food in the restaurant was excellent. Recommended for a night, for the experience. Book Room 2 for the only balcony, where you can sit out under the stars and dream. In need of a little TLC (lamps loose on walls, light switches that turn on the lights when you move in bed, slight smell of drains in the bathroom ).

The owners, David, Paula and their three children took over this hotel in June 2018. My husband and I had visited before and the owner at the time was trying to sell it. Fortunately, David & Paula saw the For Sale sign in Tenerife where they had moved to from Colombia after selling up their jewellery business. They have truly transformed this amazingly uniquely located hotel into a Paradise of Love. Their love permeates every part of the property. Their staff are like family and waiter, Carlos, is such a sweet heart who delights in witnessing the dining guests enjoy the culinary masterpieces created by the wonderful Chef, Garoe and his assistant. John and I have travelled to many places all over the world and witnessed many different hotels and restaurants. However, Hotel Puntagrande is more than a hotel and restaurant. It is a Creation of Love. Thank you all for a wondrous experience. We will be back soon!!! ❤️🙏

My wife and I live in La Restinga on the southern tip of this amazing island of El Hierro. We had visited this quaint hotel some 18 months ago to explore. The owner at the time was looking to sell the place and was clearly not in love with it!!!! Fortunately he eventually sold it to a beautiful family, David and Paula and their two children. David and Paula had learned to follow the signs which life gives us all when it’s time to make a change. After their jewellery shops were robbed in Colombia, they said ‘Time to move on’ and moved to Tenerife in The Canary Islands. While there, they saw a ‘For Sale’ advert for Hotel Puntagrande on El Hierro and followed their intuition and bought it. They have transformed this place into the most beautiful place to stay. Love permeates the ancient walls and David and Paula’s loving energy is evident everywhere. Carlos, the waiter, is a very beautiful soul who absolutely delights in witnessing guests enjoyment of the culinary gifts created by the chef who was trained in a London restaurant. We strongly recommend Hotel Puntagrande for anyone looking to re charge their batteries and experience some ‘self loving’. Honeymoon couples would especially enjoy here. It’s a perfect location. Thank you all for a wonderful stay❤️
