#2 of 3 B&Bs / Inns in Laarne
The Vanhercke Family offers 2 charming studios in a luxurious Flemish cottage style. Explore the quiet old valley of the Schelde and the medieval atmosphere of ancient Laarne (Ghent). Stay a night, a week, or longer in one of our Guest Cottage Studios. Built like typical Flemish cottage, they adjoin our 18th century house and are nestled between the water castle of Laarne and the nearby wetlands. Built in the typical Flemish brick stone as luxury apartment bed and breakfast studios for 2/4 persons, the cottages are annexed to a 18th century cottage farm, which is located at the foot of a natural park, that was formed by an old meander of the river Schelde. Free parking at your cottage, easily accessible, big garden

We stayed here for a few nights making it a base for our tour of Belgium. It is near Ghent but was an easy drive from the Brussels airport. The hosts are very helpful. In addition to very well presented rooms, we had breakfast in an enjoyable setting in their greenhouse.

Loved the vintage 'Soupart' wood fired bread & pizza oven in the breakfast greenhouse. Size 12 pizzas... oh God. Lovely spot. Extremely comfortable beds. Felt like home away from home. The perfect location to visit Gent, Brugge, Antwerp and Brussels, and the perfect place to come back to after a long day.

We promised Ingrid to return, and we did! We were here 3 years ago and our stay has been wonderful again. Ingrid and Daniel are very hospitable people, the breakfasts in the greenhouse are lovely and the cottage beautiful and comfortable, exactly as we remembered. The chickens have been well fed and the eggs they laid were awesome. The areas around Laarne are so pretty, and the cycling was wonderful. We visited Ghent, but lacked time to visit Antwerp. So just as good a reason to come back again!

We stayed in the blue cottage for three nights. The B&B is situated just outside the sleepy village of Laarne, with a nice garden and chickens. You can just make out the noise from the busy highway that makes access to Ghent easy. The cottage is quite small, but fine for two people. I would not recommend using the futon to sleep an extra two people, though. Self-catering is possible, but be prepared to cook on a tiny camping-sized gas stove. The let-down for us was the "luxury" bathroom, which turned out to be mediocre at best. Apart from being tiny and in need of some TLC, the water pressure in the shower was so low, it was impossible for me to wash my hair. The owners were friendly, but were unable to fix the problem for us. Oh, and don't forget to bring your own toilet paper, or you will have to buy it from the owners.

We are sorry to find out this way that your stay was not completely to your satisfaction. Reviews on this and other sites only show 'excellent' and 'very good' and it is our aim to make people feel 'at home'. As for the problem you mention, it can happen in any other place..we offered you a compensation in a free night and a bottle of cava, that you gladly accepted..

On the first evening of our stay (10th June) our car broke down and Ingid took us to the garage the next morning, helped to make the conversation between us and the garage very easy and then took us back to the garage once our car was repaired. Our room itself was all we could have asked for and breakfast could not be faulted. A very peaceful location, yet ideally located for motorway access to Gent, Brussels and Antwerp. Genuinely warm and friendly hosts completed our stay. Paul & Jo (UK)
