Villa Hermani is a great hotel for walkers in the Carpathian Mountains near the village of Magura. The rooms are comfortable, clean, warm and have fantastic views of the mountain landscape. Katharina (the owner) is an excellent host. Her staff are friendly and helpful. I don't eat meat and I was very well catered for at meal times, often with...

We couldn't have asked for a nicer hotel. Beautiful location, great rooms with balcony and plenty of tasty, healthy food. Stunning views, day & night. Skies are so clear you see the milky way. From the hotel you can set off on gorgous walks, either through a gorge or in the mountains. You can even visit a hide in the...

The bear hide was one of the highlights of our trip to Romania, very cool and quite a unique experience with so few people around. The place itself is situated beautifully, and immaculate (really... immaculate). By Romanian standards, it's quite expensive. But for us it was roughly a bit more than we would usually like to pay for a hotel.

Our final stop before Bucharest on a fantastic trip to Romania with friends. On our arrival, in early afternoon, we were greeted by Katharina. She was very knowledgeable about the local area and was able to suggest possible walking routes and places of interest. After a late afternoon bowl of soup we set off for a pre-arranged trip to a...

This adventure was the finale to a wonderful two weeks guiding our friends on their first visit to Romania. We arrived early afternoon and after an early evening bowl of soup were taken down the mountain to see some bears at a nearby conservation project. We saw seven or eight including a mother with two small cubs, before returning to...

Lovely relaxed visit after the slightly tortuous climb up the hill in the car. Welcomed by our hosts and made to feel very welcome. Would highly recommend the visit to see the bears. The location is stunning and the guides helpful and knowledgable. We were welcomed back after 10pm with some delicious food. Breakfast is plentiful and you are encouraged...

My boyfriend and I stayed here as part of an Exodus walking holiday, it was fantastic! Very clean and comfortable hotel with lovely food, I am vegetarian and the dinners were always delicious and nutritious. “Due to there being Bears, Wolves etc everyone has dogs all of which are incredibly friendly & well looked after but they do bark & howl though the night, this however wasnt a problem after the first night once you get use to it, it actually became quite relaxing as it echos amongst the mountains - I actually liked this :)”
