Golf resort with hilly championship course and easier flat course. We like to hike so Cooper's Rock State Park and Cheat Lake Park nearby for varying levels of hikes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Off season for golf so very quiet and relaxing
It was easy to find, beautiful area, friendly and helpful staff, and roomy. Sad the fireplace doesn’t light anymore and the indoor pool was closed for renovation. The place definitely needs upgraded which it appeared that’s what they are doing to the main lodge. We couldn’t stay in the first condo due to the ceiling falling down in the one bedroom. They quickly moved us to another unit. The counters are rescued and the living room furniture needs a lift to get you out of them. Other than that and a few other little things that needed repaired we enjoyed our little get away. We saw some pretty sites and enjoyed the meeting the local folks at the Purple Cow and the Novichenks Tailgaters Pub II.
The place is very run down. The rates triple during Football home games, had no room service all three days. The fitness center DOES NOT have playable Pickleball courts and all pools were closed. Will not stay again and worth the extra bucks to stay elsewhere!
The resort is old and dated. But the 2 bedroom unit was clean and well stocked. Two of the indoor swimming pools were closed and the heater on the third one was broken. Golf course was in good shape. The fittness center was well equipped.
The Timeshare townhouse was mostly clean, a bit outdated. All appliances and furniture were great, comfy bed! Not much to do at the resort besides golf. The pool was nice but it was a bit chilly during our week so we only spent a few hours there. No indoor pool. The fitness center was well equipped.
Well, let me break this down into pluses and minuses. We have been to many many timeshares and for a Wyndham this place was pretty disappointing. Their resorts are usually top notch. Pluses: bed was great! We had a 2 1/2 bath 2 bedroom so very roomy. Lots of appliances and a washer and dryer in the unit. Negatives - cabinets and countertops are in horrible shape. Kitchen floor - awful. Can I just say gross? Ice maker didn’t work and when we reported it, the young gal said very matter of factly “well, 95% of the units have ice makers that don’t work”. When I said that’s unacceptable she just said well, use the ice cube trays. Well, there were none!!!! She did get us some but in the end we just grabbed ice in the hotel machine - actually found one that was working. Which was a feat. They need staff that are more seasoned and compassionate. Not young things that could care less. The main TV didn’t work right at first - but we did get that fixed. Connection problem. FYI…the maintenance guy was stellar. He was nice and compassionate though I wish he would have taken his muddy shoes off before entering. The toilet in the master sprang a leak - same nice maintenance guy looked at and it was the o ring. Figured that, so we just wrapped a towel around the base. He didn’t want to inconvenience us. Everything was pretty clean but not vacuumed very well at all. There are vacuums in the supply closet in the condo. I don’t think they are in the best of working conditions so no surprise the rugs seemed inadequately vacuumed. Golf courses - huge disappointment. We were excited cause they are supposedly in the top 100 in the country. The Mountain Course is beautiful until you look down. The fairways rough and greens are in terrible shape. The premier Lakeview course next to the timeshares and hotel is also beautiful, but needs maintenance. It’s definitely in better shape than their mountain course but needs help if it wants to keep a good ranking. Tennis court - we were expecting a tennis court so we could play Pickleball while there. We asked about the court when we checked in and they said, maybe lines were added for Pickleball. Turns out they turned the court into a volleyball court years ago and the front desk people didn’t even know it! E-gads. Do they not know that Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the US. Never mind the fact the front desk didn’t know this. Plus the website touts tennis available. Though I guess it could have been miles from there. Also, if you go in the fall expect possible acorn dents in your car. They are falling constantly over the parking spaces. Friday and Saturday night the hotel has music that’s so loud til 11 you better not be an early to go to bed person. I never write reviews this long ordinarily. Hopefully they will improve or this you somehow. Wyndham should be ashamed.…
I can’t even adequately put into words how AWFUL this place is. Run down is putting it kindly so I will go with that. Staff seems to now want to be bothered & when you have to they are not polite or helpful. God bless the housekeepers as they are trying to put lipstick on a pig. Morning coffee in the lobby was a lousy cappuccino machine that you had to PAY FOR and isn’t drinkable. The golf course looks very nice - if you can tolerate paying 4star price for a 0star room then this is ok, but I’m giving 0 because I’ve never seen anyone give a -5 star.
Do not waste your time and money, the rooms do not have frig, microwave, luggage rack and light bulbs. All of the staff are young and new. The golf course needs alot of work. No locks on the outside of the buildings. It tells me Wynham does not care what they put their name on.
Overall the place was nice and it was spacious 3.3/5. The place is definitely dated and it is noticeable but it is still nice. The bed was comfy, and parking was easy. It was in a decent location near Cheat Lake. Pool could of been a bit cleaner but there is a tree above it so it was not that bad and doable. Staff was nice but it was a bit difficult to get ahold of them at times. Amenities should not have a charge to play pool are the arcades. There were a few maintenance things that I would suggest the resort work on as the place has good bones.
There is quite a bit to see and do in the area and the property is close to cheat lake and on a golf course so that is a plus. The downside was the units were a bit outdated, staff didn't seem knowledgable about the condos or area and we both showers were dirty and had mold. However, the beds were clean and it was convenient.
