Hotel's Favorite
Stayed 4 nights at Best Western Premier Phu Quoc.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, situated at Bai Truong Beach, and it is just 10 mins drive from the airport. The hotel is part of Vietnam's CEO Group which comprises other hotel development and also SONASEA shopping area (shop lots comprises Spa, Night Market, Restaurants, Convenient Shop amongst others) which is just located opposite the hotel.
Complimentary Shuttle Service is included in the room rates, makes it very convenient to travel to and fro the airport.
The rooms are very spacious, comprises a balcony, daybed, kitchenette, bathroom (standing shower only) and a Hollywood King Size bed. The bed is very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower area is adequate. WiFi is complimentary and the speed is excellent. My room commands a nice view over the swimming pool lagoon and the sea.
The breakfast spread is excellent, one of the best I ever had. There is a Pastry and Bread section, Fruits and Cold Cuts section, Vietnamese and Western cooked food section, and a cook-to-order section.
Not only that the taste is good, but of quality as well. The only downside is the coffee station set up, they should put it elsewhere as that area has a high traffic flow makes it very inconvenient for diners to wait for their coffee to be brewed, and caused a lot of obstruction to the flow.
The swimming pool is huge and it is very conducive to swim. You will be greeted by the rectangular lap pool, also the 300 meter lagoon pool for you to find your favourite spot.
The beach is nice and clean, without much touters and beach vendors so you can enjoy the tranquility and peacefulness which the resort has to offer.
The gym is sufficient for you to pump it up and sweat it out. If you would like to pamper yourself, they do have the spa to soothe your jadedness away. Madi, Pedi and all kinds of spa treatments are available. Though the price may be more than outside street vendors, but you are guaranteed a nicer and quiter ambience.
I encountered with a couple of staff where they have exemplified their service excellence namely Ms Anh Thu at the Reservations, Mr Long at the Tour Desk, and the female staff at the Taxi counter ... All rendered great customer service to their clients.
In short, we were satisfied with our stay. The Reservation did recognise me as a Best Western Diamond member, but the Front Desk failed to acknowledge me upon my check in as this supposed to be their SLA and protocols.
A great stay without breaking a hole in your pocket. Highly recommended.

Visited on sept 22 2020 and Phu Quoc has been hit very hard by covid and the number of tourists are non existent.
Yet best western was functioning almost as normal.
First off the location is right on the ocean and they keep the beach clean. From the ocean once you have swam you can walk into a massive swimming pool .The morning breakfast was amazing food ,was of top quality and cooked to perfection.
They still had a FULL buffet breakfast as well as ordering al la cart .
The breakfast choice would satisfy anyone regardless where in the world they are from .
The Nepalese manger and his assistant Loyd would check every morning to see how things are ,very very nice guys .
The room was 5 stars all the way and they included FREE beverages and snacks in the room .
Basically anyone would find the room luxurious yet the price paid was dirt cheap .
Overall I would recommend anyone to to stay here and will be going back in the future to stay ,and did I mention they even pick you up from the airport and drop you off when you go home .I was basically 1 hour from getting on the plane from Ho Chi Minh to on the beach .

We are a family with two sons ages 10 and 13. We had a very enjoyable week long holiday at Premier Best Western in mid December 2019. Viv B's review in Nov 2019 is an accurate description of the hotel.
We particularly enjoyed the beachfront - free kayaks and paddle boards, reasonably priced jet skis and parasailing, plenty of sun lounges, shady trees, clean water and sand, in water hammock and swing. The weather was perfect, warm enough to swim but not sweating if you went for a walk.
We also really enjoyed the rooftop bar. The views and sunset were spectacular, the DJ /band set a great atmosphere. The food was delicious at the main restaurant as was the entertainment.
The lobby looked very Christmassy with all the decorations and there were always Christmas carols playing so we definitely felt the Christmas spirit.
Other services such as free movies every night in the ballroom and free mini bar were a nice surprise. The free shuttle bus to the night market is good. The night market is mostly for food, not really for shopping.
The spa treatments are divine and we didn't have a problem getting appointments.
All the staff were very obliging. Sometimes the service may seem to be a bit lacking, but I believe this was due to the language barrier. Any issues were minor and quickly resolved.

The hotel is 15 mins from the airport. It has manicured gardens full of colour with weaving swimming pools towards the seafront. Also 2 main pools one with swim up bar. The buffet breakfast has an excellent selection of local cuisine, meats, fruit, yogurt, plus full English selections. The roof top bar has extensive 360 degree views and an ideal place to watch the sunset. There is a kids club and spa too. Across the road is a large selection of restaurants, street vendors and mini markets. The beach is soft golden sand and you can walk for miles.
The rooms over 9 floors, are spacious with a balcony, wardrobe, kitchen facilities, tea and coffee making, fridge, tv, alarm clock, hairdryer, room safe, robes and flip flops. They provide beach towels.
Lovely hotel with good facilities. Only criticism is we only found one bar and very little on site entertainment, but it was great for a short stay rather than a 2 week holiday.

Pretty much everything was great. All the facilities were modern and clean (as expected for a resort that is only a year old), the staff were generally friendly and their English was mostly OK, and the restaurants and bars were very good. The gardens were also immaculate and I saw heaps of gardeners working on them all through the week, so credit to them.
Make sure you watch a sunset from the SkyDeck bar on the roof, not many people knew about it.
There were a few areas to improve:
- It was good having access to a limited number of private sunbeds on Long Beach but a lot of guests were leaving their towels on the sunbed early in the morning to reserve them and not returning at all to use them. I only saw one occasion where a staff member removed towels from an unused sunbed. Inconsiderate guests are not the resort's fault but the staff should consider watching the sunbeds more closely.
- The set menu at the restaurant was great but the lunch and dinner buffet was a little underwhelming in quality and choices for a 5 star resort. The breakfast buffet, however, was very good.
- They only offer one shuttle a day into the main town (which is around 30 minutes away by car) and we couldn't book a seat because it was always full. Maybe another shuttle service would be good.
Overall, I would highly recommend the resort for a relaxing getaway if you are visiting Phu Quoc.

Recently, we stayed at BWP Sonasea Phu Quoc resort and it was a great stay. The rooms were clean and tidy. Room service came and cleaned our room every day. As a family of 3 kids all under 10 years old, we were pleased to have room service everyday to keep the room tidy. The only thing we had to do was to leave the sign turned on for room service and they clean the place spotless.
On the other hand I should give my personal thanks to Mr. Do Anh (Manager - Front office) who helped me to get my lost item by helping me to communication with Vietnamese Airlines. He had contacted the airline few times to get it resolved and finally I got my item back. Thank you again for all your effort.
We stayed there for 6 nights and it was a great experience. The front office staff helped us with taxies and made sure we were not getting ripped off from the local taxies services. The hotel provided a free shuttle bus at night to the night market which we enjoyed. I think they have quite enough sun lounges since they have a few hotels around them and they have to work with the beach space allocated to them.
As an improvement, I would recommend to get more english speaking staff hired to reduce any confusion between the customers and staff (google translator helped us with any communication gaps)
Looking forward to visit again in a few years time.

I give it 5 stars because the staff and brand new cleanliness make up for the minor set backs that could easily make it a 4 star hotel resort.
The pool is fantastic. There is both a children’s and adults area, but there are no age restrictions. The lounge chairs fill up fast and people stay for a while.
The gym is adequate however does get crowded quickly in the morning and afternoons.
Some of the staff speak English, but most do not. Many of the staff members speak Chinese and Russian. If one staff member doesn’t know the language, they will switch out for someone who does. This does get frustrating, especially when in a time crunch but it works out.
The hotel is now only 1 year old, however the rooms are already getting marked due to guests bringing in sand from the beach and scratching the floor with dirty shoes.
The free bottle of water helps a lot but will not go far.
Since the area and hotel are so new to taxi drivers, they repeatedly found it difficult to find the hotel (even though Grab app shows the location). The area around the hotel does have a few restaurants and shops but most the of the entertainment is near the Night Market. Expect a 20-25 minute taxi ride one way to the Night Market district.

The hotel was at full capacity with over thousand guests.
Pros
1. Nice pool and beach
2. Clean rooms
3. Good for families with toddlers
Cons:
1. Transactional experience meaning customer service is lacking
3. Quantity over quality
4. Breakfast is chaotic with long lines
5. Slow service. You have to ask 5x
6. No hot shower and no water pressure
7. The rooms service was not great. We came back to a garbage bag in the sink and wet cleaning towel on the toilet.
8. Lack character
9. They only gave ~ 300 lounge chairs at
the beach and some of them are broken.
We reserved 2 rooms for a family of
5 (2 parents, grandma, 10
And 12 year kids). We used Agoda. Never had any issues with our reservations for all our trips. The hotel gave us 2 rooms
With one bed per room. We said that we needed an extra bed for my family. They asked us to use the mini size sofa which didn’t have a sheet, pillow or blanket.
I asked for an extra bed instead of the mini size sofa. My mom asked the staff for extra pillow and sheets. Nothing happened so I went downstairs to the front desk. This is how they handled the situation
1. Asked to check our reservation insinuating that we didn’t mention a family of 5 otherwise they would have not allowed us to have these rooms
2. After checking that our reservation was correct, they insinuated that the reservation was for 2 kids under the age of 16 insinuating that our kids are older. But they are 10 and 12. They have copies of our passports so they could check themselves.
3. The clerk told us that the dad should be sleeping with the kids on the same bed. I was furious at this point that they are dictating how we should use their rooms
4. Then they said that they are full capacity therefore they can’t accommodate the extra bed
5. Finally they said that Agoda made a mistake by allowing us to book these 2 rooms for 5.
They never once apologized but instead blamed us and Agoda for the mistake. The clerk lectured me on how to correctly make reservation online. He said that he has years of experience. I was offended by his comments. After insinuating that I lied on my reservation now he is telling me that I don’t know how to make a reservation online.
My husband who is Caucasian joined the conversation. They miraculously said to him that they can add an extra bed for 30$/night instead of 60$/night. That’s a discounted price. Complete ripe off but I didn’t want to waste more time so we agreed to the charge. We travelled all around VN and never had to pay extra for a bed after we made our reservation through Agoda or Expedia for our family of 5.
Would never return to this facility. Would not recommend this facility if you are looking for a great customer experience instead of a fast food like experience. Our
family travel all around the globe, we have never been treated so poorly. This is not the Best Western experience that we are accustomed to in the States.

Dear 109lesp, Thank you for taking the time to post you very detailed review on Trip Advisor. I have taken note of all of your comments and shared with our team in order to pin-point our continuous training to improve on our services to our guests. Indeed as you mentioned, your stay was during the peak period meaning a lot of travelers for the festive period coming to stay in Phu Quoc. Unfortunately, the day we received the new sun loungers on time for Christmas some did break and action was quickly taken to order more which have now arrived in the previous days to the enjoyment of guests. I do apologise if your experience with our talented customer service team was misunderstood. We offer our leading category rooms consisting of a king or twin beds and we currently have a very special offer that a family can choose to only book 1 room for 2 adults with 2 kids under the age of 16 where the kids enjoy a complimentary breakfast provided they use the current bedding which is clearly stated. As you probably know, different websites promote or advertise accommodations in a variety of ways. I believe our team was trying to help you understand the differences in booking through numerous websites. I'm glad to read you enjoyed clean rooms and nice pool and beach. We would really like to have a chance in the future welcome you back to stay with us once more and I'm confident you would experience the high standard hospitality, friendliness and willingness of our staff to assist all of our guests that we have come well known for. I would recommend you contact us directly to make your booking so we can advise the correct room category if you wish to book for quantity of persons rather than room type. Kind regards,

Service can definitely be improved. Towels and toiletries are not replaced daily. Not enough sun beds on the beach. Buffet is subpar. Bring your key card everywhere as the staff might ask to verify that you’re a guest. No private food/drinks on the beach but apparently it only applies to some people or if you’re targeted by the staff. Staff doesn’t seem to know their own hotel policies. You’ll see a lot of the staff on their phones. If you understand Vietnamese you’ll hear a lot of them talking ill about the guests at the hotel. Definitely not worth the price. Would not recommend.

This is NOT a 5 star establishment; in all fairness, I would give it 4 stars tops, and that is mainly due to the fact that it is a new resort (2019) in a nice location, good facilities: this is also the main reason that I rate it 3 stars now (otherwise would be lower). We rented their best place available online, one of the 3 bedroom villas. From the moment of bus pickup from the airport, overpacked and squeezed in, it was a rocky road. The long check-in with mistakes caused us to get locked out of our villa on the 2nd day; the man who showed the villa to us was in a hurry to get out and did not inform us of a lot of things, like turning on the water heater, how to control the AC, and even that the mini bar was free for us (realized this at check out 5 days later). It was also on the 2nd day that a downpour of rain flooded the entire master bedroom causing us to run around to move all of our items. (I called the front desk who failed to send someone promptly). There are several more instances, but this paints the picture. There is no concierge desk, so the front desk staff tries to manage it; they are overloaded with tour groups coming in and out daily. The lack of English is an issue, so maybe this place would get better feedback from a Vietnamese family, although my Wife is Vietnamese and she saw the same issues. Had to make any calls to the front desk and sometimes follow-up calls because no action was taken (maybe they didn’t understand, not sure). This place is either understaffed, or the top management is not taking the time to ensure staff are properly trained and/or supervised. I asked 2 or 3 times for the contact information of the General Manager and never received it until I made an official request via email. I emailed my frustrations to the F&B Manager the day of check-out with the GM cc’d, but no response; he doesn’t seem to be concerned with me or the issues. I expect much better service from a 5 star rated resort, especially from someone renting the most expensive option for 5 nights. I have been in Vietnam 10 years, so I am comparing it to many other places in Vietnam that I have stayed at, including one recently, the Hyatt in Danang a couple of weeks ago.

Dear roberthil88, Thank you for choosing Best Western Premier Sonasea Phu Quoc Resort during your stay in Phu Quoc, and for taking the time to give us your feedback. At the outset, we are really sorry if some of our services have not met your expectation. We do appreciate your feedback and will share it with the team to learn from. As you might know, we are just passing through the COVID period - the most difficult time ever and most of us did a lot of change to adapt to the new normal. Same as other hotels, in order to survive in the local market we have to change ourselves to meet the market expectation, and the local market is quite different with the Western or other International markets. So it's making some inconvenience for the people from a Western culture like you. Once again, I do apologize for any inconvenience during your stay, and I do hope that we will have the opportunity of welcoming you back to the resort after the International market fully opens, where we will strive to exceed your expectations. Best regards, Thai Do Best Western Premier Sonasea Phu Quoc

You can use the mini kitchen, but there are no kitchenware except for a few glasses. You can bring your own pots and pans. They should be appropriate for induction cooktop. For dishes, I used disposable ones that I bought from 'Vyvy mart' which is really close to the villa.
Lots of small shops in the «walking street» across the road from the main entrance. 1 min walking distance.
Hi Cathy I too am trying to find this out as their seems to be limited restaurants within easy walking distance. I have looked on the hotels website and all I can see is a notice for a "set menu from VND 400000pp" in the Essence restaurant
