It was just fabulous: food, hospitality and place! We had booked 2 rooms lake facing. While booking you should ask for rooms which face the city overlooking the lake. The Belfast buffer was simply amazing and loved the spread. Unfortunately the bathrooms don’t have key spray and being an Asian country, good to rethink on faucet in WC.

We stayed there for 4 nights whilst in Hanoi and this was by far the best hotel in our Vietnam trip. It sits in a very beautiful location with rooms looking out to the lake, you can see beautiful sun sit through our balcony. Clean rooms with a very simple decor but impressive. A little way out from the city but can take a quick 5 min taxi ride to the city centre. The hotel has everything from Sunset Bar, swimming pool to an up-to-date gym. An incredible buffet breakfast/lunch/dinner option in the restaurant. Very friendly and professional staff, really helpful. They suggested us good restaurants and things to do around Hanoi. Arranged taxi rides to currency exchange everything to your convenience. In all its a really g8 place to stay with your family.
Suggestion : they should have shuttle buses like other hotels to the city centre.

The only reason I took a star off was not delicious food. I tried meals offered via room service and the breakfast buffet twice but the only dish I really liked was chocolate brownie.
Apart from kitchen, everything else was superb. The hotel offered me a free upgrade and a duty manager calmly moved me to another room at 12:30am when I complained about noise. The room was clean and spacious overlooking the lake.
The city centre is easily accessible by car and is not far from the property. The highlight was a visit to the Sunset bar located right in the middle of the lake.
The staff were friendly, professional and welcoming. My status was recognised and that was very pleasant. The lost and found service was also very helpful.

Am here at the moment and leaving in the morning. Beautiful location overlooking the lake. Peaceful and serene. We paid 40 dollars extra each night to upgrade to a lake view room which is totally worth the view.
Apart from above nothing else good about the hotel I'm afraid.
Rooms are old and run down. Really needs renovation.
Dead spiders left for three days in our bathroom suggesting they aren't being cleaned. I didn't find the rooms clean at all.
No shower gel etc; I had to ask which is weird for a 5* hotel
TV wasn't working.
Asked for specific pillow after they offered a pillow menu and then told me they had run out of pillows.
Barely any Vege options at breakfast although to be fair they tried to accomodate after they asked me to complete a survey and I explained that.
Staff disinterested and barely speak English.
Tea and coffee in the room but no tea bags?
No turn down service
Loud noisy air conditioner all night!
Bathroom smells like sewage. I saw a few people said this in previous reviews but only understood it when I got here.
Very useless hair dryer and old safe in the room that barely works

we stayed here recently for 3 nights and although its out of town its well worth it, especially if you want the more relaxed kind of stay, grab will do a taxi into town for couple of pounds. Rooms really clean and spacious, breakfast buffet had an amazing choice and staff were very helpful. Stunning view from our room which overlooked the lake and meals were delicious

We actually stayed at this hotel twice during our Asian trip in February. This is an excellent hotel with great front desk service and support. The restaurant in the hotel had an amazing breakfast buffet and also housed an Italian restaurant. Odynovo Gravel, our travel agent did a wonderful job of booking this hotel and others during our entire trip that took place during the Coronavirus quarantine. All of our hotels had very low occupancy due to no Chinese tourism, thus we ended up in outstanding accommodations and services. This is a perfect hotel to use as it is central to all key tourist sites in Hanoi. I highly recommend this hotel.

When I checked in a couple of days ago, I had a few complaints that I found to be irritating. However, I spoke with the manager of the hotel who is very friendly and listened to the concerns I had. He’s very professional, he addressed all of them and make sure that they were all corrected. Since they were not that big a deal, it meant a lot that he would fix them. Thank you to Nguyėn Chi Trung for genuinely wanting to focus on his guests experiences!
This is a very unique property. Many of the buildings are actually built on top of the lake. So when you sit on your balcony, you’re overlooking the water and the skyline in the distance. They’ve done a great job keeping the property updated and comfortable.
The sunset bar is in the middle of the property and has indoor and outdoor views of the lake. Nice place to sit and grab a cocktail or a small bite.
I only tried the inside restaurant for breakfast. But the selection was quite extensive! Western food, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc. The highlights for me were the mixed juices that they offered as well as the various Asian foods. If you’re on vacation in Asia, why would you eat the pancakes and waffles? But if that’s your thing, they do have those. :-)
I’d recommend getting a room that faces the skyline. When you’re sitting in your hotel room at night, and you look out, you see nothing but water and skyline in the distance. Very private, and peaceful.
The location is not bad because it is easy to take a taxi into town. I like to walk when I’m on vacation and explore everything on foot. Very doable and you’ll rack up the miles if you do. Lots of great street food five minutes away from the hotel as well.
I have stayed at several intercontinental properties and have been quite impressed with them over the years. But I’ve never stayed at one that is as unique as this property. Definitely worth checking out if you’re here in Hanoi!

When you want a luxurious escape with 5-star, personalized hospitality, look no further than the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake. I had heard great things about this hotel from a travel group I’m a part of, but I was very happy to have my expectations exceeded by the friendly and welcoming staff here. Mr. Erik Daniels, the Executive Assistant Manager, and everyone at the hotel went out of their way to ensure I had a truly memorable stay.
I was impressed from the very start. My pre-arrival communication with Mr. Daniels and his team was prompt and personalized, and they graciously allowed me to check in to my room much earlier than usual (I had an early morning arrival by train). I appreciated the warm welcome by the staff member named Son. The room I was given was fantastic—a beautiful and spacious suite with unobstructed views over the lake. The welcome gifts and handwritten note that greeted me upon entering the room were like icing on the cake.
The room itself was tastefully decorated, the bed was large and very comfortable, and the bathroom was almost as large as the bedroom itself. I felt like I had a whole mini palace to myself.
Breakfast at the hotel was abundant. Table upon table of delicious food, much of it cooked to order. I particularly liked sitting near the window so I had views of the lake. It was also a great experience when Mr. Daniels personally came over to say hello and introduce himself. That made me again feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
Other highlights at the InterContinental included the gym and steam room, the Sunset Bar at evening time, and the assistance by the concierge (Ms. Hien Nguyen, who went out of her way to share suggestions for my interest in a Vietnamese coffee class!). I highly recommend this hotel to any traveler looking for a memorable 5-star experience in Hanoi.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake in July of last year. While it is quite hot in July, the hotel is kind enough to help shuttle you around the property on a golf cart to help avoid the heat (which we really appreciated!). The rooms are large and are almost all over top of the west lake which is very unique. The staff was very attentive and the service was great! Would definitely recommend this hotel for a nice stay in Hanoi.

Unfortunately we had a medical emergency during the trip and the hotel team led by Mr Quang Phan was professional in response and they extended very practical help during our crisis. Fortunately all ended well and we were impressed by their service which went beyond their call of duty, including ensuring that support & help from him was just a whatsapp text away when we were at the hospital. Apart from the crisis response, we appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the thoughtful gestures e.g a couple celebratory cake / fruits, heater when the weather turned cold, instant cup noodle when I came back late from the hospital. It was indeed a luxury hotel with service delivered with professionalism, thoughtfulness and warmth! A big thank you to all at Intercontinental Westlake Hanoi!
