I recently had reason to spend a night in this hotel and was blown away by the quality of service that i received. The food was to a standard of a top restaurant at twice the price. we stayed for drinks in the bar after dinner and enjoyed the local atmosphere. The rooms were beautiful and although modern they supported...

Appearances can be deceiving. On the surface the Grand Hotel looked like it was going to be a nice hotel with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. This I expected and this I got. BUT, and it's a big BUT, I was not expecting to experience fine dining worthy of a top New York Steak Restaurant. My colleagues and I were...

My wife and I have stayed at the Grand on several occasions over the last forty years. On our last stay, about twelve years ago it had definitely become run down. We were very pleased with the improvements to the hotel when we stayed recently. Some previous reviewers had complained that it was difficult to park in the front hotel....

I stayed there on a recent business trip with some colleagues. I do have to say the call the establishment 'Grand Hotel' requires a strong sense of humour. I stayed in room 11 which was smaller than my colleagues, in fact it was tiny. Although there was a desk, it did not have a chair. This is not ideal if...

I was sorry to read your recent comments on your stay but I have concluded that maybe The Grand Hotel was not the right type of establishment for you. Room 11 is a single room with a double bed and a stunning river view – not a bog standard soulless corporate single room. I am pleased to advise that our...

This hotel has a lovely, friendly, local feel. Staff were smiling and helpful! I was late and dishevelled and needed to get to a wedding and was delighted to get an early check-in with no fuss. The room was bright, with some charming features - I'd booked a single room and was expecting the sparseness that a single room often...

Loved this hotel. I know its family owned and I appreciated it and could tell. Its a little old fashioned but its comfortable. I found the food delicious and the staff friendly. There are no lifts so the stairs can be a bit of a hike, but was offered help with my baggage. The sound of the Blackwater outside your...
