We didn't stay in the B&B but in the adjacent townhouse for a month....the decor isn't classic like the B&B but more modern and serviceable ...the kitchen has everything you need for basic cooking and the two bathrooms are clean and fresh with good towels supplied....the beds are comfortable with nice linens ..there is a laundry with washing machine/dryer....a small... The room was large and comfortable. There are several interesting local pubs and at least one excellent restaurant within walking distance. It across the road from a beautifully preserved castle and grounds. Breakfast, including the Full Irish, was excellent. The owners/hosts are very accommodating and helpful guides to the area. Birr is ideally situated for touring and activities in the... More

Recently had one night stay in this beautiful property. Was top class in every way from the accommodation to the service to the breakfast. Will definitely have to go back and stay for longer to enjoy great location.

Beautiful georgian mansion, immaculately decorated with great attention to detail. Stayed 1 night with 2 small kids, unfortunately only family room was unavailable so kids had to sleep on airbed with no objections. Room was scrumptious and spacious, so plenty of space for double airbed. Bed and pillows were perfect, soft yet not too soft. Huge luxuriously decorated drawing room... More

We loved this wonderful B&B. You must try and stay here if you get the chance. We were travelling from Kerry to the North and needed to rest after the previous nights Irish wedding, (if you've been to one you will know what I mean!!) This place will make you feel so relaxed and surrounded in luxury. Lots of lovely... More

Across from Birr Castle in a very nice historic building. Decorating was well planned and coordinated. Host and hostess were most accommodating. Very good breakfast. Short walk into town. Comfortable sleeping and quiet. Our best b and b on our trip to Ireland.

Handsome building in a very private location, and beautifully decorated. Our en-suite had a claw foot bath, and our room had a chaise longue (sp?) - very evocative! Lovely crystal chandeliers everywhere, great decor, it was a really special treat. Our host was great, was born in the house which was such a nice point. Lovely breakfast room, good breakfast,... Walcot is a place of excellence. We stayed here for 4 nights, having been delighted with our last stay 2 years ago. It is a Georgian house (as are many in Birr) beautifully maintained and brought into the 21st century. Our room and ensuite were very spacious and full of antique furniture as was the rest of the house. Across... More

Walcot was the first B&B we stayed at during our 2 week trip around Ireland, and it simply set the standard for others. Beautifully decorated and charming...it's easy to tell that Eilish is an interior designer. We had a beautiful room with a king bed; everything was immaculate. Chocolate candies a nice touch. Wonderful full Irish breakfast served in a... More
