Peggie & Daisy were wonderful, couldn't have been more hospitable and accommodating. Jim on the other hand, where do I begin. Terrible human being doesn't do it justice, makes awful breakfasts, doesn't seem to like people at all, if he was any less friendly ... all right fine, I made that up. Jim is fine, don't hesitate to stay there.

What a treat staying here....Peggy and Jim were fabulous hosts and we wanted for nothing. Jim advised us to park our car and take off on foot to see the sights....and this was brilliant advice as you can walk to everything. Our room was spotless, wifi good and an excellent breakfast. If returning to the area this is where we... More

The actual room at this B&B was very nice, coupled with a high quality full breakfast and an excellent shower. However, the owner’s very boisterous, strange manner left me extremely uncomfortable from the moment we arrived. Frankly, it is not appropriate to tap a young female guest on the bum while her back is turned, which occurred before I had... More

Yet again another wonderful stay with Peggie, Jim and Daisy the dog. A lovely B & B within walking distance of Cashell and a fantastic breakfast setting you up for the day. Very comfortable rooms and guest facilities including a patio with great views. Thank you for your hospitality and see you next year.

We loved our time here. Peggy, Jim and Daisy (the dog) are so welcoming! They went out of their way to make us feel at home and to make sure we were comfortable. The room was updated, clean, and comfy. Their neighbors were having a party that was loud but it did not bother us (we live near a city... More

Impeccable stay. Pinewood trim throughout. Updated room. Very clean. Owner Jim is super friendly and interacts with guests very well. Fabulous Irish breakfast. Nice view of 12th century monastery ruins in field behind the house. Highly recommend!

After a long day of driving and sightseeing, this wonderful B&B was a welcoming location in picturesque Cashel. Peggy and her husband are gracious hosts and the house and room are large and comfortable. Breakfast is good. Walking to town for dinner is easy.

We loved our stay. Jim was very welcoming with great sense of humor. Met Daisy, their sweet dog. Great location, everything within walking distance. Beds very comfy; great sitting room with patio that had terrific view of the ruins of a 12th century abbey. Breakfast was delicious! Would definitely visit again!

Wonderfully friendly, attentive hosts with great sense of humor. The breakfast is generous and freshly cooked, and delicious. The ambiance is peaceful, and they make you feel at home. We loved their dog Daisy too, who is so well behaved and socialized. Awesome workmanship in the rooms which were crafted by Jim himself, and decorated by Peggy.

Great convenient location in Cashel. Our family had two rooms and both were very nice. The upstairs room had some low ceilings so if you're 6'0 or taller you might want a first floor room. That being said the view from the upstairs room we had was fantastic so there is always a positive in every situation. The host Jim... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peggy O'Neill's is a charming family run bed and breakfast located on the Golden road, three minutes walk from the centre of Cashel. Peggy has been welcoming guests into her home for over a decade and she provides homely yet very comfortable accommodation and huge hearty breakfasts at a very reasonable price. Peggy's is a 3 minute walk from the centre of Cashel Town and a 10 minute walk from the Rock of Cashel.Peggy O'Neill's unique selling point is the wonderful view of Hore abbey from the back of the property. Hore Abbey (also Hoare Abbey, sometimes known as St.Mary's) is a ruined Cistercian monastery near the Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary, Republic of Ireland.'Hore' is thought to derive from 'iubhair' – yew tree. The former Benedictine abbey at Hore was given to the Cistercians by Archbishop David MacCearbhaill (in 1270), who later entered the monastery. He endowed the Abbey generously with land, mills and other benefices previously belonging to the town. The story, beloved of tour-guides, that he evicted the Benedictines after a dream that they were about to kill him, is unlikely to be true and probably arises from the Archbishop's 'interference' with the commerce of the city of Cashel. His disfavour of the established orders in Cashel certainly caused local resentment. He was resented by some of the towns-people, being considered too much in favour of the Irish by the more Anglicised. This is evident in the objection by the thirty-eight local brewers to the levy of two flagons out of every brewing and in the murder of two monks who were visiting the town. ... more   less
