So, we stayed here for a single night only and sadly, didn't get time for breakfast, and I reckon that would have been pretty good. It was a great rate, it's a really good price for what you get. Check in was fine. The lounge and dining area are beautiful, so full of interesting things & chairs & antlers & ephemera & stuff, I really liked it and was sad to leave without getting to sit in it for a while with a glass of whiskey, but such is the nature of our work that i was late to Dublin as it was and not back to the room til late. So, the room is slightly less good than everything else about the hotel; we had a ground floor disabled room and the shower was kind of rough round the edges without quite enough hot water to get a proper shower & the floor was hard to not flood. The bed was comfortable & I slept like a baby log, though, despite being ground floor, i wasn't disturbed by any noise. There were 6 tea bags, which is great & appreciated. Yeah, I liked it. I reckon they could spend a few quid sprucing up the rooms, but i get why they don't & if I was heading back to Dundalk, I wouldn't mind at all staying here again, hopefully long enough to get to experience the space like it was meant to be experienced. Thanks for looking after us.

My wife and I arrived in Dundalk by train and easily found our way to the Glen Gat after a ten minutes walk. Dundalk is a much bigger city than we had anticipated so we were lucky to have found such a nice place so close to the station. The B&B is filled with family heirlooms and local treasures that reflect the history of the area. Just hearing the story of how the Glen Gat got its name is worth the visit. Our Hostess, Helena, is a local media celebrity. Her vivacious personality and enthusiasm for the Irish lifestyle made our stay unforgettable. My wife and I were able to join her in the sitting room one evening where she regaled us with tales about her family, friends and the local area. If you're a writer, this is a great place to get some story ideas! If you're not a writer, but just hungry, they serve a great breakfast!

I returned to this splendid guesthouse with two of my Huskies. All three of us were absolutely spoilt. Nothing was too much for these lovely proprietors. My room was extremely comfortable, with sufficient ‘mod cons’. My Irish Breakfast was to die for; it really set me up for the day! I can’t wait to go back.
