We stopped here on our way home to NI last weekend 15th of October 2020 for some lunch, due to covid we had to sit outdoors (guests only allowed in hotel) that didn't bother us as the sun was out and it wasn't raining. Got served very quickly by very helpful, friendly staff. Food was 5 stars and got loads and the price was not bad either!! We both said we would go back and stay the hotel looked stunning when I was using the toilet. Its very close to a good shopping centre, so next time we get away we will definitely stay here!! If you're in the area definitely either stay here or eat here well worth it!! Cant wait to come and stay some day soon. All the staff were extremely friendly and professional. Thank you!

We have stayed here many times over the years. The refurbished rooms are lovely new bar and disability access into the hotel are great. Breakfast is very good but food in bar not great. During our stay the lift was out of order which for us was a big issue as my step father has mobility issues. Was Xmas time so couldn't get fixed till next morning the staff where excellent gave a room at no cost for 2 nights. The staff made our stay really special they didn't no but after a family bereavement we wanted away for Christmas highly recommend the Imperial and thank you to the staff.

Room modern and comfy and the food is really good with large portions. All staff in this hotel were so friendly and helpful. Our only problem was that there were drinks charged to our room which we didn't order, but that was quickly rectified by the lovely staff member at reception.

I booked a last minute stay for myself and my young baby for one night due to a construction issue at home, local hotel and booked for convenience. However from the moment I checked in the service was above and beyond. I felt like I was on a break From the moment I entered. The front of house staff are the best I have come across, so friendly, helpful, and generally just incredibly kind. They couldn’t do enough to help me with bottles, the buggy, organizing a cot, anything you can think of. Staying away from home with a young baby can be overwhelming but it was a far cry from that here. Having worked in hospitality I can be quite picky and particular about certain things, and I can honestly say the service at the imperial was the best I have come across. Gorgeous hotel and brilliant staff I couldn’t think of anywhere else I would rather have stayed. Thank you to everyone in the hotel, in particular front of house!

Upon arrival we were told the room was not ready which was fine as we were a little early. However when checking in we found the room not to be clean, there were food remnants left on one chair! The room was well decorated but showing some signs of wear, stains on carpet and evidence of water damage in the bathroom. Pillows were what one might expect if conscripted to the army during WW1. Breakfast on the first morning was more 1 star than 4 star. I’ve had better in a choke & puke on a road trip. Breakfast on day 2 was a vast improvement. We wouldn’t have noticed this as we would have departed on morning 1 but for a family lunch in the hotel. On return to the hotel on the Saturday night at 8.50pm it was not possible to dine, unless we wanted a pizza! I was only asking for two steaks and a bit of cheese after. The engagement with the manager on night one said it all. Probably one of the most ineffective and hopeless managers I have ever met. I’d be passing on a P.45 if he worked for me. The family lunch however took the biscuit. We were seated over two tables to comply with Covid regulations. Food came out at different times rather than all together. Massive waits in between courses. The mains served to one table were barely tepid. On another they involved a rather rancid burger for a child. The reason behind this became clear as the experience wore on. I had asked for a birthday plate or candle in a desert. I was told yes and then called aside to be advised this couldn’t be supplied. The reason, the chef has gone home. I watched several chefs move about but not one could serve a hot meal or shove a candle in a cake? The reheated meal was just a microwave job, you could see the sauce curdling on the plate when it came back! When it came to deserts, one arrived and that was it. On investigation into this we were advised in a rather camp and overly dramatic manner that the waitress looking after us had gone home and it was her last day so she didn’t really care about it. The rather unnecessary information on the hotels HR issues didn’t make us feel any more welcome. The only positive was the second mornings breakfast and the fact they refunded one nights stay have spent between the stay, drinks and a meal about €850. It felt a bit like the team member who issued the refund was rather familiar with the process, like it happens a lot. But she was very nice and helpful. Their staff in general are a nice hard working bunch. But the lack of leadership shows during service. The lack of training is very evident and that is entirely a failing of the manager. Most unfair to a team of people. My advice, book somewhere else until someone at this hotel engages a new GM who has some idea how to run a hotel and not the pandemonium we were subjected to.
