I stayed in this hotel last week. I was passing through Glengarriff and just booked the cheapest room as I was just staying overnight. To my surprise I was given a room overlooking the harbour. I was not expecting this but as it was available, they gave it to me. It was a very comfortable. The single bed was a... More

Just returned from a short break at the Eccles Hotel. Hotel was fine. Bit run down here and there but on the whole it was a pleasant stay. The only downside was the repetitive vegetables served every evening for dinner. Surely there are other veg we could have had apart from carrots, beans and peas. Breakfast was fine but not... More

Last year [2015] we stayed in the SE of Ireland so this year we decided to see the SW. The hotel had unfortunately had new management but 7 weeks prior to our visit so it was a little chaotic. However, the staff were first class and very friendly, the food was well cooked and plentiful and our bedroom had a... More

We stayed here for one night as part of a Grand Tour of Ireland. The hotel is in a beautiful situation overlooking Bantry Bay and we were lucky enough to get a front bedroom do we had the same view from our window. Our evening meal was an acceptable 3 courses and breakfast the following morning was also ok.I loved the feel... Yes, the hotel is old, but clean and tidy. Yes, the wifi is narrow band and basically available only in the hall. Indeed, if you are not charmed by the old days flavour; if you fancy a 4-star high-tech busy airport hotel; if you are not willing to plunge into the slow dozy and relaxing atmosphere of the Beara Peninsula;... When we arrived from a very long trip, the hotel and it's surroundings were beautiful. That's as far as it goes. It seemed like staff were on holidays.Room was tiny.Seemed like staff were on holidays!!No Wi-Fi. Worst "hotel" I ever stayed in.

A beautiful location overlooking the bay with beautiful scenery. Very tasty ,no frills food in the bar and a very lively hotel lobby which was full of people on the night we were there. Had a rear facing room and asked for an upgrade which wasnt available but the staff were very helpful and did their best

Yes it's old, and showing its age but with that comes it's charm. A spectacular setting, one can't help but imagine it's many visitors in years gone by. A mix of friendly young and mature staff who have to put up with youngsters who don't bother to put down their phones when ordering breakfast.... Sigh. We would return. Room was... More

This hotel has an amazing setting overlooking the bay. The views are stunning. It really needs some investment to bring it up to standard and it would then be superb. I had a single room which was very small, but clean. Small things like no biscuits on the tea tray and plastic spoons were disappointing after the last hotel we... More

We were really looking forward to staying here, people saying who we know in Ireland "wow you are staying at the Eccles". Sadly the wow may have been in its heyday but def not know, when you first walk in you do get a lovely feel but the room we had was ok, a little tired, the bathroom sink was... More
