Hagal is a farm house. It’s not a hotel, inn or B&B. I’m sure many people had a wonderful experience staying at Hagal. To each his own, I suppose. But there are a few things about Hagal that made the experience not so pleasant for me: - Midges are a problem here. So you’ll have to forego the fresh air and sleep with the windows closed, else get eaten alive. There are no screens. - The towels and linens are quite old and worn. "Fresh" is not a word I would use. I don't even want to know how old the feather pillows are. - They can evidently accommodate many guests, but that may involve sleeping on mattresses temporarily placed on the floor and six or more guests sharing one tiny bathroom. - The property is quite overgrown. I personally could not see any countryside views during my stay. I suppose not everyone is bothered by these things - hence the multiple five-star reviews.

We are sorry to hear that Hagal Farm Self Catering Accommodation was not for you. We can't be, nor do we claim to be the ideal space for everyone. Our linens are always clean and dry, but we have taken your comment seriously and see what we can do there to improve things. We hope that on your next visit to West Cork you will find a self-catering property that better suits your needs. I would suggest something right by the sea - there will be less midges there and less trees and bushes that might obstruct your view! Kind Regards - The Hagal Farm Family

Hagal Farm is a great place to relax and enjoy the country side in Ireland. We visited in late April and stayed for 7 nights. We had 10 people total in our group, including teenagers and a four year old child. The grounds were stunning, with spectacular views and lots to explore. The caretaker was so friendly and accommodating with any questions or requests we had. My husband and I were actually married on the property, words cannot describe how incredibly stunning it was. The owners had suggested a caterer for us on the wedding day, AMAZING!!!! The meditation room was the perfect spot to watch the sky grow dark and end the night in a peaceful way. On the days we went sightseeing, it was so wonderful to come back to the farm, light a fire and reminisce about the day. I can't wait to our next trip to Ireland, and the chance to stay at Hagal Farm again. Thank you for providing my family with the best memories!

Spent 5 days at Hagal on an Art retreat.....the place grows on you to the stage were you say 'I could live here for ever'. Fred and Jenny are brilliant, great cooks and just wonderful people, I eat a vegan diet and they catered so well, I think my food was better than everybody else's and theirs was class home cooked local ingredients, most of which is grown on the farm. This a rural location ideal for getting away from it all....go and experience a better way to live....

Just back from my daughter's hen party in Hagal Farm, a remote "rural retreat" 15 kms inland from Bantry in West Cork. We had a fantastic time in a stunning location with views of Bantry Bay in distance. There are two linked houses accommodating at least 18 and a cosy farmhouse vibe. Very clean. Large table in main kitchen for dinner and tables in conservatory for breakfast. Lovely stove fire in large sitting room. Large sky room where 14 of us tried out a yoga class! Massage also available for those who wanted. Our girl drove down from Cork but there is a local person available. We were really lucky with the weather on the Saturday and had an idyllic party in a glade area of the beautiful gardens. Think sun, trees, rugs, balloons, swing, banners, picnic, prosecco, music, flowery dresses, unicorns......! Yes, it was magic!!! Highly recommended for family or friends get together, relaxed self-catering style. And 2 days was fab but too short!
