Whispering Pines is recommended by Lonely Planet and Rick Steves and I understand why. The pros definitely outweigh the cons. It's like spending time at a relative's home rather than a hotel! Pros: - Very clean and tidy room and lodging - Lovely host, very friendly and helpful - Delicious breakfast with good variety - Great location right near the... More

Mary and her daughter, Kathleen, were such a delight. They greeted us warmly and helped us plan our time in and around Kenmare. Most importantly, the cozy rooms were CLEAN! Our towels were changed, fresh filtered water, and freshly laundered and ironed pillowcases daily. Breakfasts included delicious home baked breads, local yogurt and fabulous hot entry (try the french toast!).... More

We traveled from Nova Scotia, Canada for two weeks in Ireland and stayed two nights at Whispering Pines. Mary is perhaps the most gracious host we met on our two week travel through Ireland. The B&B is cozy and welcoming with ample free parking and only a five minute walk into town. The breakfast's are typical of all the B&B's... More

my fourth round-the-island tour of Ireland from Canada, and my fourth stay at Whispering Pines in Kenmare. I always include Kenmare in my tour; the shopping, restaurants, tourist attractions inside and around the town are great, and the B&B is the best -- sparkling clean, quiet, close enough to downtown to walk, amenities are top notch, and the welcome by... My husband and I had the privilege of staying at Whispering Pines in Kenmare for two nights in June. What a lovely place! Kathleen and her mother Mary made us feel so welcome and comfortable. They are truly interested in the guests and how their time is spent. They are wonderful hostesses. Our room was immaculate and spacious and the... More

I don't know why I have waited so long to write this review, but now that the high season is approaching for European travel, I want everyone to know about Whispering Pines. (Though I would probably keep it to myself if I thought I would be fortunate enough to return soon). Whispering Pines is a lovely property, immaculately kept and... More

Arriving at Whispering Pines B&B, we first noticed Mary's beautiful hydrangeas. Her suggestion to drive counterclockwise around the Ring of Kerry allowed us to enjoy the countryside and not meet a single tour bus! It was a short walk from the B&B to good food and music. If you are headed to Kenmare, Whispering Pines is a great place to... More

Stayed just one night at this lovely place. Mary and her daughter are so warm and welcoming. Just grand. Wonderful breakfast the next morning. The room was small but well organized. Very close to the main street of Kenmare and also close to the harbor.

From the moment we first arrived, Mary made us feel right at home. This bed and breakfast is spotless. The decorating in the room was pretty and we felt like pampered guests. There is a tea pot for coffee or tea in the room. The room was not large, but we only used it for sleeping, as we were seeing... More

We loved our four-day stay with Mary at Whispering Pines. She runs a splendid B&B. The rooms are very comfortable. Mary’s superb breakfasts will keep you going until dinner time. It’s an easy three-minute walk into downtown Kenmare, which has many fine restaurants and excellent shops. We used Kenmare as a base for day trips to the Ring of Kerry,... More
