We enjoyed a night here in an A frame unit. Very cosy and well appointed. Good value for money. Great place to do a scenic flight or jet boating. The restaurant is quirky and food reasonable. Fun to have a game of pool and hang out with the locals!

Stayed here just for one night but it isn't really long enough to take in the views. Very remote, only the fuel pumps, shop and cafe/restaurant (all in one) but lovely. The river walk is stunning, although there are official walks too. This wasn't a hostel as such, they are A-Framed lodges which is very different to what i was... More

Stopped for lunch cause it was an hour out before hitting the next town over - definitely regret it. The chips were dry like they had been sitting there since yesterday and the pie was less than average, and didn't sit nicely after consumption.. Only compliment was that the coffee I ordered was good. Otherwise, crappy experience overall.

A great place to stop mid way between the west coast and Queenstown, Meals are great and the A frame units are very comfortable and warm. Really friendly staff in the restaurant and the fireplace just completes the deal. Would stay there again

Loved this place... very cute and quaint A frame cottage with ample room... Best views. Best part is No TV or Internet... you actually have to talk and spend quality time with each other. Try the Chilli Con Carne its amazing with a nice glass of red.... Loved our short stay

We had an accident with our camper and they helped us on every way they could. They were so nice and helpful - really awesome. We hope we can say thank you with this Review. Especially to Catherine and Dean. Thank you so much Greetings Joel

This was my first stop after I cycled over the Haast Pass and the milkshake alone made my heart sing. (I should add it's also the first food stop after Haast). I stayed in Makarora two nights and this was the only option in this tiny town for food - and they did it so well. This place is spacious,... More

Spartan accommodations, but good for a stopover between two of the south island's tourist Meccas. Our cabin (#11) had beds for 6 people (1 double and 4 singles). The double bed mattress was too soft for me, but I should have tried one of the other "cot-type" beds. Space heaters were sufficient for warming the sleeping area. Plenty warm (hot)... More

We normally stop down the road but it was packed with 3 bus loads so we came here, had my normal mocha which was served in a glass and lacked heat, both pet hates. The music in background was techno cap. Had a toasted sandwich and a bit of chocolate cake, both nice, rest room clean. Wife enjoyed very average... More

We were wonderfully surprised when we arrived in Makarora and were given the keys to our cabin. it was adorable, roomy, comfortable and offered everything we needed. Full kitchen, lots of living and sleeping room. We loved it!
