This is the place to go away from the busy tourist centres. Nice quiet spot, lovely rustic kitchen cabins set in the bush, although generally the facilites are a bit 'tired', so don't go here if you want up-market facilities. Being so remote though, do take ALL your food, as there is no real shop, limited wifi, and no cell... More

We chose this place because it had a restaurant onsite for our late arrival. The location is good, bush setting is lovely , A-frames are tired but adequate. The food was homely, pile your plate for $20.

If this hotel were in another environment, it would be a one star hotel. But there are 360 degree spectacular views from this setting. The A frame single units are simple, clean and come with a little kitchenette and four beds in a room. Bathrooms are small, there are no screens on the windows. Campground environment. No wifi and no... More

Stopped for one night on the way to Queenstown -- had dinner at the pub there and the food was good (good options for vegetarians in the buffet with a tasty thai curry, salad, and veggies). We stayed in the Big Red cottage -- it was for the most part clean (just seemed to have a sticky kitchen floor) and... More

We stopped on our way down to Wanaka and so glad we did at it was a lovely little spot! We had a campervan so just used the camping site, the lodge facility was huge and had a fantastically stocked kitchen with a chill out area and large fire which we lit as it was quite cold the night we... More

Stayed one night in the medium cottage, it was a very basic room presented in tidy, clean manner, quiet, private and isolated with good space between the next cottage. The staff at the pub was Amazing! very very friendly, helpful of everything, meal was not bad but the Pie is surprisingly GOOD! best ever bacon and egg pie, and other... More

For $35 this was a steal. The staff were great. We dined in the cafe which was excellent "pub" food, priced appropriately. They even let us watch a game of rugby outside hours. The bush walk was easy and pleasant. Our first night in the camper was a good one.

Stopped for coffee and snack. In the middle of nowhere, I was expecting a very average coffee but I was proven wrong. Great coffee and delicious, huge date scone. The food on offer for more substantial meals looked pretty good. Friendly service. Well worth stopping here.

Surprisingly good coffee made by a young guy who looked like he just stepped off his skateboard ... We just had that, and a chicken sandwich, which was good, so can't comment on the other facilities. There was a fire going, in a huge fireplace, which I'm sure would be great in miserable weather.
