The best bit of advice I can give to people thinking about going to Baros is... prepare for how you are going to feel when you arrive home..It is a truly beautiful, perfectly formed pristine island. Our 'sea house' as we affectionately came to call it, was wonderfully appointed

We had been planning this holiday for over a year and wanted to go somewhere special as we had several celebrations; a big birthday, retirement and our wedding anniversary. After many visits to the Maldives, we thought we’d got it ‘out of our system.’ So, after a virtual trawl

At the end of the walkway leading to the water villas, there are some sunbeds. Otherwise, there are sunbeds on the little islands sticking out from the beach. I am not aware of spare sunbeds actually on the beach

There were definitely vegetarian options on the menu - but I don't know if they were Jain or not. The main menus for the Lime Restaurant are on the Baros website, so that should show whether they are suitable for you. Or email them from the website, the staff are great so will be sure to help you. They only accept guests from age 8 years and over, and there are no specific children's facilities or entertainment - beautiful lagoon with fish to see even in the shallows, and a pool, table tennis etc. but nothing child specific I don't think.

Hi - Baros is the only place I've visited in the Maldives, so can't compare to other resorts further out. However the proximity to Male is to me a plus for short stays (we've visited for 4 and 5 nights). Transfers are only 20-25 min speedboat ride, wasting no time getting to the island, or leaving too early for the airport, it's really convenient and maximises your time. Not sure what is wrong with being "too close" to Male in terms or reef, snorkelling, marine life etc. - we saw rays in April and turtles in December, hundreds of fish and black & white tip sharks on both visits, so absolutely no complaints! You can easily walk then swim from the beach - it's coral sandy - typically hotter than it is sharp!, but when coming back into shore you're best to flip onto your back to avoid scuffing your knees (learn from my mistake :) ) Restaurant / board option - a personal choice. Suggest you look at the menus on the Baros website and gauge your likely spend versus the half board option to see what's better for you. The menus were correct as at Dec 2018, and pricing hadn't change much (if at all since Apr 2016). Villa - again a personal choice, we opted for a beach villa, the benefits for us being beach view and wandering onto the beach & into the water rather than no beach, and the amazing outdoor garden bathroom which I loved! It also felt more chilled walking through the island greenery to restaurants etc. whereas the walkway to the water villas felt hotter and perhaps longer. Hope that helps and have a great trip wherever you go!

We were in 313 facing away from the island and across the water. We couldn't see very much of anything except the amazing sunsets.

Hi, the pass times me and my wife stayed on the sunrise villas, didn’t stay on the sunrise side of it. For the sea level at our villa wasn’t high during our both stays , and maybe like to 1.3-1.5 m , but again it all depends on the tide , we were staying maybe mid of the stretch or slightly further up of the water villas . I hope this helps .
