We stayed at the Calabash for 1 week having stayed at a resort on Grande Anse Beach self catering the previous week. On arrival we were welcomed by the owner and management team and this boded well for our stay. Checking in was swift and efficient, our luggage in our room before we arrived. Fresh fruit, rum punch and water complimentary on arrival and water replenished continuously whether on the beach or in your room without having to ask. All the facilities are very high standard, i.e. the beach beds, the gym, the infinity pool etc. We stayed in Room 6, which had a large well appointed bathroom. Very comfy bed which was turned down nightly. Patio with excellent comfortable furniture. The gardens and grounds well maintained which added to the experience, All the staff very professional both in attitude and dress. The only reason we cannot give five stars is although the quality of the food was good, the menus were uninspiring and had we stayed for two weeks we would inevitably have dined out. Most days we struggled to select both at breakfast and dinner.…
Clearly, this resort is top of the line - indicative of a Relais & Chateau hotel. From the moment we got out of the taxi, we were greeted by 4 staff members and made to feel welcome. This resort offers unparalleled service, amenities, accommodations, and dining. We elected the All Inclusive package which, for us, was the best option. A truly special place in a lovely location.
The staff were incredible and made this experience first class. The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was outstanding and the broad selection of choices meant we always had something new to try. We were treated like visiting royalty and pampered so very well by all the staff. The facilities were wonderful, and the island tours organized by the front desk were fun and fabulous. Truly an exceptional property and we are so happy to have visited Grenada.
Well dear reader, This is a family run hotel which strives to be the best and frankly they get there. The three big requirements in a place like this are location, staff and food. The staff are well trained and its obvious they all take pride in their jobs and i think other hotels could learn a thing or two from this hotel. The only negative is the lack of fresh orange juice in the morning but although annoying its hardly a deal breaker but top quality means they should offer this. Most of the food and beverage they offer is not made on the island so why not fresh orange juice which used to me Michael Winner's pivotal test as i recall.
Quite simply, The Calabash Hotel is superb. Whilst being top of its class and faultless in all areas, it has a wonderful lack of pretension and a relaxed and understated air of perfection. The hotel, its facilities and location are beautiful and the service exemplary. The Garbutt Family are welcoming, totally involved and utterly professional.
We have been visiting the Calabash for many years, so clearly we love it. Each year this delightfully relaxed and informal boutique hotel continues to charm us with their high standards of style, service and cuisine. This year the addition of a small Japanese style restaurant was an example of how year on year the hotel strives for perfection. We will return!
The usual 5* review, would no doubt usually praise the staff, the food, the rooms etc etc All of these are outstanding @ The Calabash, so do I need to go into detail and repeat what all the other reviews are saying….. For us, the telling aspects of this hotel were: A) how many of the guests we met have been coming back to Calabash year after year, many for 20+ years. B) the fact that we are now both in our 6th decade and in all that time taking holidays around the world, we have never returned to the same holiday resort twice. However, this time, having just left Calabash, we both agree we are going to break the mould and we will be back next year. For us, this says so much about the Calabash. The family who run this hotel have so much to be proud of!
A wonderful relaxing stay. The family ownership ensures the whole team functions to ensure your time is outstanding. The suites are spacious, fresh and clean. The restaurants are excellent - fresh food beautifully prepared with local ingredients. The wine list has a great range from well priced good house wines to bottle for special occasions. Breakfast on the verandah of your suite is a really delicious treat, as is afternoon tea or delivered evening canapes. Overall everywhere the service is friendly, professional and attentive without being obtrusive. This was our first visit but we will definitely return.
I took two suites adjoining with my adult kids. Everything was superb! The staff were incredibly helpful - booking taxis (do NOT rent a car!) , excursions and advising us on everything we needed with Grenadian grace, warmth and efficiency. We felt so welcome. The suites are a minutes walk to the beach and breakfast and lunch in the beach club meant we hadn't To dress up to go in to dine. Food was excellent but we also dined more casually at the local Sand Bar reached via the beach a few minutes away. The water activities are on site and free but we booked a couple Of our own coastal excursions with them. Water sports were Run by the two owners who could not be more professional . No panic trying to secure loungers on the beach each day. Guys on the beach all day changing towels and bringing drinks - you can swim and not worry about your bag left on your Lie out. The service on The Calabash was superb. It is a small, low rise, private, quiet resort, very safe with beautiful beach with trees for Shade. My son used the gym each day and daughter did yoga. The vibe was mostly older English couples - no families or Honeymooners - which I liked as I was originally going by myself. Might have been a bit too quiet for my kids if we had stayed longer! But for our 10 Days it was so Relaxing, safe, friendly, and top Quality and we saw all the island sights. Not a big high rise place with huge pool, usa brand name and activities all day if that's what you want. Nice that it's Grenadian owned and we loved the daily news sheet on our breakfast table each day. Will definitely return!…
Fantastic resort. Excellent amenities and the staff are extremely welcoming and really helpful with nothing "too much trouble". The rooms are good quality and well serviced every day (we had room 5) and the grounds are extensive, attractive and well maintained. The beach area is very comfortable with plenty of service provided at your sun bed both in terms of regular water supplies and bar service. There are a number of water sport activities for the more adventurous. A separate pool area is quiet and peaceful and the gym well equipped. The three restaurants at the resort were all very good. Particularly enjoyed the food at the Japanese fusion option. Highly recommend.
