The owners were very welcoming when we arrived after a long drive. They recommended a pub a 5 minutes drive away and the food there was excellent. ( Also the pub close by is worth a visit...) Our room was spacious and the bed was really confortable. Breakfast was delicious.

We wanted a short stay near Stourhead without being too close and found this gem. As others have said you do need a car but Frome is only a short journey away and so many other places to visit are easily accessible. The owners can't do enough for you and we would definitely stay again. The room was large and... More

We were down in Witham Friary for a friend's wedding and after a night under the stars in a tent we wanted/needed(!) a decent night's sleep before heading back up to Yorkshire. When we called in and asked, the rooms had not yet been cleaned but the owner's were more than happy to have it available within the hour. When... More

We wanted a peaceful and quiet country B&B near Frome and got everything we had hoped for in Barstow Towers. Our welcome was as warm as our departure. The house is beautifully kept. Room was large, warm, well equiped and with a view to boot. Breakfast was outstanding with its fresh local produce. Our hosts recommended a perfect pub nearby... More

We recently attended a christening near Yeovil and were looking for an overnight stop somewhere in the area so that we could have a night at the theatre in Bath and not have too far to travel the next day to the chistening. Our visit was over the weekend of the Queen's jubilee and it clashed with the Bath and... More

We had an absolutely wonderful week at Barstow Towers, which is situated in the sleepy village of Witham Friary near Frome. The willage was beautiful and quiet, making it the perfect getaway for a relaxing week. The house was wonderful and full of character - used to be the old village shop - and the owners was delightful and welcoming... More

beautiful location, welcoming hosts, good night's sleep bed comfortable and room very peaceful, breakfast excellent my husband loved his cooked breakfast. the only slight downside is it's location as you need a car to get there but once there you are rewarded with peace and quiet and lovely country views, it is an ideal base for visiting Longleat, Stourhead Frome and Bath... If getting away from the daily grind of life is something you are looking for then this is the place for you. Hidden away in the back roads of Somerset you will find this charming house in Witham Friary. You will need to drive as public transport is scarce. You can get fairly easily to Bath, Longleat and Stourhead for... More
