Very friendly pub with a roaring coal fire, very welcoming after a walk to Chatsworth house and back, top pint of pedigree. Did not eat(apart from pork scratchings and crisps!) So can not comment on the food.

Saw the sign saying dogs welcome, so popped in for a drink. There were quite a few other families with their dogs. Our Dalmatian dog was greeted by one of the bar staff, who made a huge fuss of him. We watched some of the food orders coming out and decided to order our own .We weren't disappointed. I had...

You spoke to one of the owners not a manager and I certainly wasn't arrogant or unfriendly, I was polite even in light of you clearly being disinterested in what I was saying. I said good morning to you the next day and asked you if you had enjoyed your breakfast. So please explain how this is not being friendly?...

The main meals are average, the garlic bread was so yeasty I feared an infection from eating it. The fish pie was given 3 stars by my fellow diner. I have provided an image of the roast to accompany my review (that is not a duvet keeping the meat warm it's a 'Yorkshire pudding'). It was horrible, tasteless and had...

We consider ourselves really lucky to be the owners/operators of a successful, popular and independent business in the beautiful town of Bakewell, supported by locals and tourists alike. We work incredibly hard, as do our talented and dedicated members of staff, who have shown us loyalty and commitment for many years, in some cases. With this in mind it is...

We stayed for one night the rooms are basic but clean and at a good price. The room we stayed in had a top quality hair dryer that impressed my wife. At lunch time we ate in the bar, the food is very reasonably priced and the portions are large. We both had hot beef cob with chips salad and...

Me and my wife had been to Bakewell for the day before Christmas so we fancied going for a one night stay. There's plenty of accommodation to choose from but we booked into this pub. We were not disappointed. It's a proper old English style pub. The food was very good with generous portions. The staff were friendly and helpful...

Having travelled up for a mini break we called in at Bakewell for some lunch, having walked around the town we thought we would try the Red Lion based on word of mouth, and we were not disappointed. The staff were accommodating and pleasant, the food was generous and very good. We would also comment on the range of local...
