This was a stay with family about a decade after a stay with friends and the standard is still very high. We were warmly welcomed to our large comfortable en-suite room. It was a very cold weekend outside but nice and warm in every respect inside Melbourne House. Onto the practicalities, there is small but functional car parking outside Melbourne... More

Stayed a couple of nights with friends at Melbourne House. Once again, service was second to none. Lovely big clean rooms, warm hospitality and a great breakfast. Would certainly recommend to friends and family.

We stayed here for two nights so we could visit Chatsworth House and enjoy the Bakewell Christmas Markets. The location of the B&B is fabulous. Our room was lovely and very spacious with a good size bathroom. The bed was gorgeous and provided a very pleasant nights sleep. We heard some other guests saying their rooms were too warm but... Have stayed here a few times now for the weekend of the Rock exchange and always found it good and accommodating for early breakfasts. The beds are comfortable and rooms are furnished to a good standard. The shower in the room was rather weak so it took longer to shower especially when washing your hair. The other point to make... Lovely stay in a nice clean, well presented room, with perfect hosts. Nice breakfast. Handy car park. In a good location although on a fairly busy road not much road noise to keep you awake at night. Would recommend highly!

Fantastic room, spacious, clean and great location. Owners Marie and John were very friendly and the breakfast was top class, we had a lovely stay and would definitely stay here again next time we visit the area.

We enjoyed our stay here, and would not necessarily discourage anyone else from choosing it. The rooms are nicely furnished with plenty of space, good quality sheets and are very well cleaned. If you want convenience for seeing the local sights like Chatsworth, Haddon, Thornbridge brewery, the Bakewell show etc. then this is all within walking distance. The disadvantage of... More

A friend and I spent three nights at Melbourne house in July. This is an extremely well run establishment with two houses (across the street from each other) and 8 or more rooms. John and Marie are welcoming hosts (John cooks a fabulous breakfast, Marie is the face of the organization.) We had a room with twin beds which was... More

We are traveling with our teenaged children and have found 2 rooms works best. I booked ahead (glad I did!) and had a twin for the teens and a nicer room for mom and dad. The double room was HUGE - I think it was #2 across the way in their east borne house and had the most lovely bathroom... More

Stayed here a long weekend while exploring the area. Great place with large spacious rooms. Everything seemed newly refurbished. Breakfast was great and the lovely couple running the place was very friendly and helpful. Free parking and free wifi. Would definitely return!
