My sister and I went for lunch at the Barge Inn down town on the canal. We sat out at the back overlooking the canal and the narrow boats. Having ordered a cheese platter each (the good old ploughman's seems to have disappeared most places) we were amazed at the size, selection of cheeses and presentation. It was a picture... More

Bradford on Avon is a stunningly beautiful part of the country. This hotel is the ideal place for rest and relaxation. The room is quiet, clean and with very comfortable beds. The staff are very welcoming, happy and nothing is too much trouble. Sitting in the beautiful garden next to the canal watching life on the canal passing quietly. The... More

Fabulous location with outdoor seating by the canal, and a lovely view of the narrow boats puttering past. However, the food and service were average. Our group of four ordered several of the lunch specials, and found that two of the four disappointed. In particular, the baguette with chicken was almost inedible, with chunks of cold (not warmed) chicken on... More

We stopped off at The Barge Inn on 2 evenings and were most impressed by the food, which was very hot and large portions. The service by all of the bar staff was excellent and they were welcoming, helpful and very courteous. We intend to revisit Bradford on Avon again as the town and area are well worth a visit.

Visited this place mid week with my family and we all thought the food was delicious, if a little big on the portion size although this may be a plus point to many. I had the belly pork which was a good choice, my parents had trout which my dad's still talking about and my sister had quiche, half of... More

It was a sunny day & this pub is in a lovely location by the Kennet & Avon canal. My friend & I ordered a fish platter to share as a starter & then burgers for our main. We took our drink to our table & waited for our food. It arrived, it did take a while but the pub... More

It was lovely sitting here in a summers evening and the location was incredible. The food was average. My chicken ceasar salad had lots of chicken but was very dry. We ordered nachos to start with (which come smothered in sweetcorn!!) And they came out at the same time as the salad and ham egg and chips. Had to ask... More

After a wet day on canal it was lovely to walk into this pub restaurant in the evening and see an open fire. Yes in June ! It was a chilly evening. The fire was small and apparently just to burn rubbish but you can see from the photo how nice it looked. Scented candles on every table - very... More

If you want to go for a drink, this is a nice little pub with pleasant, current decor although with no soft furnishings, it can be noisy and hard to hear. I unfortunately had a meal here and it was absolutely disgusting. After the first few mouthfuls I began to feel quite ill (not food poisoning, don't worry, just disgusting... More
