My wife and I went to the George Inn as I saw it had been refurbished and am a big fan of Uphams beer. It has been refurbished nicely and the beer on draft was nice - the problem came with the food - more specifically my food - I ordered a Huntsman's Plata for £8.50 - what arrived was... More

My husband and I ordered two steaks which came with garlic butter. It didn't melt as steaks were cold and were like shoe leather. Apple pie pastry like rubber with powdered custard. One waitress was beyond miserable looking almost threatening! Definitely not worth the fifty pound bill but worth knowing never to return. Poor quality ingredients and poor cooking skills.

With a wheelchair user in our family....finding a nice pub with good food that is accessible is not so easy to find round these parts! I'd called the pub in advance to make sure we could get in (as in enter) ...to be told if we use the front door there were no steps! We opted for the safer option(front... More

There can be no excuses for what you experienced and we apologise unreservedly. What happened to your party is unacceptable and has expedited a review of existing service levels. The overriding aim of every one of the team here at The George is to ensure that all guests feel welcome and it is clear that on this occasion, we failed... More

We met half way between Bristol and Ringwood to meet up with my sister in law whilst we were in Bristol England. Also my wijfe's cousin and husband came over from Londen. The George is a dog friendly pub in a nice area and with an excellent Sunday lunch. The cavery was really fresh with Beef, Pork and Turkey. I... More

Stayed for two nights here and had a lovely time, the room was decorated beautifully and the room we had was ample sized as a triple(room 6). Dined both evenings here and the food and menu was great, the staff are so proffesional and welcoming and that for me is a must. The only thing that let it down was... More

Very, very disappointing. Having been to the george before and enjoyed the food, particularly the pie which was cooked fresh on its own pie dish with succulent meat to having a very small portion of pie with frozen veg. Not value for money. The starter was very disappointing having ordered black pudding with pork - it was horrible and not... More

The George Inn is a fantastic place to be on any day, even more so on your wedding day. After deciding on a venue, we had several meetings at The George and sampled the food. The day before & of the big day the staff were so friendly and did everything & more that you asked of them. A two-course... More

Thank you for your recent review and I am sorry that you found your visit memorable for the wrong reasons. Your experience concerns me as you can see from other reviews on this site, that our Carvery is known locally for its quality. Also I must point out that the carvery is not priced at £14.95 but actually £11.95 for... More

Booked five rooms last November for a family gathering of 18 people. We arrived to find everything perfectly organised lovely rooms spotlessly clean with great decor. We sat outside in the wonderful garden which the children enjoyed The evening meal was well cooked and well organised with friendly helpful staff. Again at breakffast friendly staff and a great breakfast. Nothing... More
