Thought I would give the restaurant another go after a disappointing previous visit. Although the Hotel and Restaurant has gone through a great makeover the food is still of a poor quality. The fish and chips looked like it just came out of the freezer and thrown into the chip pan. My chicken burger was similar and very greasy. I... More

We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights in one of the remodelled rooms. It was pretty and clean, but a bit small. The breakfast was bad, I don't know how else to say it. Everything was tasteless and greasy and we didn't get our tea or toast without reminding them. Our room was on the far end of the... More

Had an updated room which looked really nice, however, there was no handle on the outside of the which made locking it difficult and the shower pressure was poor. The breakfast was OK, but when we went in there were no clean tables, and music was blaring from the kitchen area. The cereal area was dirty too. I've stayed in... More

Chimney Corner has been a tired old girl but it appears that it is being gradually improved. The staff were excellent, the rooms good enough for a good night's sleep, bathroom worked. It looks tired but for a tired traveller on a budget.. it does the trick.

Smelly, dirty rooms. Not for relaxing. Staff seemed helpful. Out the back was disgusting and bathrooms are horrid. Could not get the smell out of my head. Good luck with revamp as it is desperately needed. Also no sign of security at hotel, front door left lying open all night and only person I seen was an elderly gent sitting... More

My wife and I stayed for 5 days. Although the hotel was being renovated we found the rooms were very clean and the staff very nice indeed. The staff in the bar and restaurant were excellent. Tony,s jokes were terrible and Don, t let him have the television remote whatever you do. Martina and Jim also were very good and... More

The only reason I have given this dump 2 stars (not 1) is because the staff are lovely. The room was old, grubby, tatty, no hot water (well we got some for about a hour once in the 3 days we was there). Cold tap wouldn't turn on.. one of the staff managed to get it to turn on to... More

Me and my other half stayed at the Chimney corner hotel for 3 nights. It didn't start off well at all. We arrived from the airport at half 2pm and were told that we couldn't get into our room yet because it wasn't finished (They've recently renovated a few of the bedrooms), and that it would be about 7pm before...
