This is the only dirty hostel that I have been to in Ireland. The floors and walls are filthy and the kitchen is awful. The refrigerator temperature is too high and all of the dishes are old with caked food on them.

Hidden away off the main street in the little town of Bushmills, the hostel is set back from the road so is quiet. Being in the centre of the town though there is a range of places to eat and drink just a stone's throw away, as well as handy for the bus stop if using public transport. The Giant's Causeway is walkable (around 3 miles) from the hostel door along a public footpath. We liked the tidy and clean communal areas, the relaxed atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the location; we were less keen on the rather hard mattresses, the lack of teapots and mugs in the self-catering kitchen, but for the price there's not a lot to complain about!

My family and I stayed for one night mid-week in a private triple room. Even though a room was ready around 1 pm, the check-in time is strictly observed. The place is a bit tired and institutional. The shower room's walls were full of black mold on the ceiling but otherwise clean. The vibe was dreary. There is no breakfast but a decent kitchen for cooking, no freezer. The location in downtown Bushmills, near the free parking lot, was excellent. Overpriced, we wouldn't stay here again.

I took a group of 11 young people from across Northern Ireland away for the weekend to the north coast. We stayed at Bushmills Youth Hostel and it was fabulous. The hostel itself was lovely and the staff very friendly, they couldn't have done any more for us. I would really recommend the hostel to anybody looking for a clean, friendly, well positioned place to stay.

We spent 3 nights at Bushmills mid week in the hottest week in NI since 1995! Shaded outside seating area an oasis! Self catering kitchen large and clean, but extractor too loud for chatting amongst ourselves. Lounge area comfortable and inviting. Bedrooms fine. Nothing too much trouble for Dennis, hostel manager. Would ask OOH contact no to be displayed in reception for use of guests Would recommend Bushmills
