Historic hotel with friendly helpful staff. Clean tidy room with comfortable bed, perhaps slightly in need of a refurb. Well stocked bar with good choice of beverages at affordable prices. The Manageress was particularly obliging - nothing too much trouble. Good varied choice of breakfast.

Our booking was transferred to the George after the nearby Old Ferry Boat had a severe water leak. As recompense we were upgraded to superior rooms which were spacious and airy, which was needed as it was very warm during our visit. The George is an old coaching inn with an historic feel and a very welcoming and relaxing ambiance. We were with friends so after busy days we ate in the hotel each of the two nights of our stay and the food was very, very good. The Sunday roast was really terrific. The COVID arrangements were clear and sensible and not too intrusive but designed to keep us safe. In particular all the staff were friendly, competent and helpful. Overall a great visit and we’ll done to all involved.

Visit with friends for quick bite to eat... service as always friendly and superb. I had chicken in basket as did a couple of others in the group and it was amazing! There’s a well known Southern American chicken fast food place five minutes away, and this was infinitely better... great job! I will be recommending to all my friends

Stayed at the George last night. Great covid safety. All tables distanced and staff wearing masks at all times. We were greeted by Toni at reception who couldn't have been more helpful. Evening meal and drinks were to the usual high stand we have cone to expect from green king. Again Toni , Scott and Paul could not have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend Jen

This is a very grand place indeed with high ceilings and appealing old fashioned architecture. The car parking is free for hotel guests and is convenient to access and has cameras for security. Rooms are large and clean and tidy if in need of a little painting and new furniture..... Food and drink in the bar was excellent and good value for money, helped along by friendly and efficient staff. All in an enjoyable stay; just needs to have some decorating work especially on the bathrooms....
