This was my first trip since the re opening of hotels post the Covid lockdown. The first thing that I noticed was the removal of cushions and all magazines and printed material from the room. That gave it a harder look and feel but presumably this is a precaution against transmission of the virus? The hotel was quieter than previous visits, but a coach load of pensioners was also staying too. Despite that the services was as effeciant as always . My stay was trouble free and comfortable and I will be back again when I need to be in the area.

I stayed in this hotel last night and witnessed the most lack of compassion towards a young family I have ever witnessed. As I was checking in a young family alongside me were checking in with a little girl who may have been about 6. It was about 8.45pm. For whatever reason the family explained they could not afford the £50 deposit although they could afford their room. They explained that no where in their booking has it been explained that they’d have to pay a deposit. They stood arguing at the desk with the receptionist explaining it was policy and the young family explaining they could afford their room but not the deposit. And so it went on. If you wanted to more publicly embarrass a couple in front of their child then I think you would struggle. Shame on the hotel staff.

I chose to stay in this hotel despite the cost for 1 night being just under £95 without breakfast as I thought it would be a really nice stay with a good name in the industry....I was left feeling disappointed. Firstly the pictures below show cobwebs in light shades, dirty stained chair and cracked tiles and other damage in the bathroom. Although the hotel offered a small discount and included a breakfast I felt it was not value for money. The general furniture felt old and shappy the duvet thin and the whole experience has left me not wanting to return and put me off booking with marriott in the future at any other hotel. The room was tired generally and with what has happened over the last 18 months I would of thought it would have been an opportunity to repair and refurbish. Unfortunately I will not return.

Booked the Marriott because of their reputation. In all honesty I was very disappointed. The room seemed out dated with its decor, no plugs bedside, the bed generally uncomfortable and the sheets faded, with a blood stain and generally not very pleasant looking, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall in various places around the room, cobwebs on the wall, broken handles on the window, dirty marks and dust on the skirting boards as well as dirty stains around the plugs in the bathroom, hair on the wall a and generally unpleasant smell. Room service was available due to Covid. Had the crispy chilli beef for starters and that was burnt and bland, burger for dinner, which was rather dry so decided to eat out the next evening. Breakfast was again cold and dry, with bacon and sausage very over cooked. One positive were the staff seemed very polite and helpful so credit to them but I don’t think I’ll be back (which is a shame as will be visiting the area weekly for the foreseeable)
